While he isn't going to do much in the way of actually assisting, the assist trophy of Mr. Resetti is still quite humorous. Like his role in the Animal Crossing series of games, his job is to lecture you to death. The update doesn't talk about what will happen if you turn the game off mid-fight, but we're sure Mr. Resetti still has his job to do, despite the game not actually being Animal Crossing.Hit up the gallery below for some images of Mr. Resetti in action.

Take a closer look at the last screenshot on the SSBB site for the Resetti update. It might be possible that, while he doesn't lecture people to _death_, he may actually lecture the characters to _sleep_, which does have some use.

Noticed that #6. Dunno if that is a real ability, or just a funny screenshot they did...

I am thinking his purpose is twofold
One, to give advice to noobs (not just noobs to the smashbros fold, but advice about Brawl-specific stuff) but to also be a "universal nuisance" like Togepi's "Nightshade" ability in Melee (its ability to make the whole screen go black, hindering all players) in this case, the nuisance would be a close-up on Resetti, so you could not see your character unless you were very close to the irritating but beloved Animal Crossing character
The only sad thing is that this means he isn't playable. Sigh...
