We don't often try to fan the flames of rampant fanboyism around here, despite the name. Oh, sure, we may sometimes poke a little fun at other epic titles, but for the most part, we're all about letting everyone do their own thing, and we're even behind owning multiple systems! Loyalty is great and all, but so are options, amirite? But sometimes, we get a little tired of the remarks about the Wii's graphics, games, and output. We complain sometimes, but honestly, we've got it pretty good. Our system doesn't break once a month, and our flagship games are looking pretty sweet, unlike certain other super-hyped titles that failed to deliver (in all fairness, we're mostly dealing with long-running franchises, but still). We don't usually end up with a game that doesn't live up to certain promises, either. On top of that, our console is pretty affordable, and you can usually get just about anyone to play with you! All in all, we'd say Nintendo fans actually have it pretty good right now. How about you guys? Do you feel pretty good to be Wii owners?

Of course I do, especially since I've been getting more games lately. The rate at which I've acquired games started going up in early August when I picked up Strikers Charged and I just got a very cutesy but ultra-fun and surprisingly challenging Dewy's Adventure. That game minus voice acting (just skip the intro thingy) equals tilting fun. But I like the games on the Wii, playing my old games on the VC, the newly emerging WiFi capabilities (which I expect will be on par or better than the DS service we are all enjoying by this time next year) and all the excitement generated by the upcoming new peripherals like the Wii Wheel, Wii Zapper and especially the Wii Balance Board (not final name lol) is keeping me in suspense about what crazy thing will happen next. I like pretty much everything but the underwhelming WiiConnect24 'SURPRISE' in September, ha ha which is ok because my 'Everybody Votes' channel hasn't worked since the 3.0U update. I guess I will just learn to deal. ;) You take what little bad there is with the good. Call it the 'Not Quite Everybody Votes, but They Remember What It's Like Channel'

Well I'm overly happy with the Wii. With all the news, of the Wii Zapper, Virtual Console getting a ton of games. Which today we are finally getting Sin and Punishment and the Japanese Super Mario Bros 2!!! I'm feeling very happy. (It's there today trust me and like the Europeans we are going to pay extra ah well), also Smash Bros Brawl and Mario galaxy will truly set the wii on a level all on it's own come November and December. Oh yea Neo Geo games and Turbograx CD games, I'm crossing my fingers for Hard-Drive Support for all of this very soon too. So, yea Wii owners should be even more optimistic then 360 or PS 3 owners. I mean Nights just for us what can be more amazing then that???

I'm not about graphics or even the elusive "fun" factor as I am about originality. If a game gives me one new thing to play with that I hadn't really seen done before, I'm happy.
Metroid Prime 3 is on par with Gears of War in terms of quality, even if they're different. That's a complement to both games. MP3 gives me a lot of the same things I enjoyed about past Metroids, but with a few new Wii-Mote tricks. Gears of War gives me some solid FPS action, but the use of cover and a natural "line of scrimmage" adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay. WarioWare is creative in its own right, but what Bioshock might lack in new tricks it gains in incredible depth.
Pound for pound, I think the Wii is capable of more than the Xbox 360. But so far, Xbox 360 has had more creative titles, IMO. (Not more creative, but more titles that push things just a little.)

First I would like to address number 1 about his comment. I had a problem with the Everybody Votes after the last update and I removed it from my Wii and downloaded it again. Maybe give that a try and see if it fixes the problem.
Now I do have to say that I really enjoy my Wii. I still have family come over on a regular basis and we have a few rounds of golf or hit the lanes with some bowling. I must say that I am not one who sits around with Wii Sports or Wii Play unless I have company. I do love my Strikers though and have been enjoying some GameCube games that I missed since I never owned the system. I also have to say that I have tons of VC games that bring me back to the days when I was my sons age.
I have to admit that I am also the owner of the 360 but I am sure that will change as the number of online games for the Wii grows. I really don't get much use of the Internet Channel but that is ok since I downloaded it before they started charging for it.
Like #1 I am also clueless to the Sept. surprise.

Well I feel the wii has more potential to go down different avenues than the PS3/Xbox 360. Because the PS3/XB have been designed with high end graphics in mind, developers have to use all their resource meeting the expectations of the graphics whores out there... If the games look bad then they are critisied heavily... where as with wii the graphics are limited so developers dont have to spend loads of time getting the graphics super realistic and can focus on the game at hand.. we have come to expect that the graphics wont match the PS3/XB so we can just move on and talk about the experience and gameplay. I can't wait for the UK release of Metroid... or galaxy.. I tell you what though... 1080 Snowboarding using the balance board.. YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Personally I find the games for the Wii to be casual fun but not deep and involving enough. There are perhaps maybe 2 or 3 games that fill this category. The Wii's motion sensing is perhaps what it has going for it, but so what? What if the 360 or PS3 were to implement similar motion sensing, with a similar control layout with games to go with it? The Wii will have nothing to fight back with.
I realise that there are arguments against my above point but I can't be bothered countering them pre emptively at the moment.
The games of the Wii, I believe, are lacking in number and quality because it's success was pretty unexpected. Developers all over the world probably were developing for the other consoles. However now with the Wii's enormous success (mostly because of casual gamers) we'll probably see great titles in the far future as they begin to be developed now.
On the topic of the peripherals, I am largely unimpressed. The Wii Wheel is something that is amazingly trivial to design. The Zapper is alright, but still nothing that hasn't been done by 3rd party companies. The balance board piques my interest, because it actually alters the controller, rather than just put the same controller into different configurations like the first two peripherals.

My sister is obsessed with Paper Mario. My brother is obsessed with RE4 and plays more Brain Age 2 than me. I've still got old GameCube games I need to go through too.

I'm... reasonably pleased with my Wii. There are definite improvements to be made (their pathetic attempt at online, a few more hardcore games) but its.. ok. I will admit I haven't touched it much since launch (Dec 06 for Australia), but I don't regret my purchase.
I'll be buying a 360 next year, once the the new chipset is out in Australia. Bioshock, Gears and Halo 3 look too good to pass up. The main reason I'm buying a 360? Online.

I purchased a Wii because I have always been a Nintendo fanboy. I've gotta say, it collects more dust than everything else around my house... just like the Gamecube, its got a couple games that I've got to have, and too many that I could care less about. I've considered selling it, but then I couldnt have mario and zelda.

I have never owned a console before the Wii. Sad, I know, but I just got into the gaming world way late.
I am LOVING the Wii. I absolutely love the VC because it has some games that got good reviews way back when. Right now I am finishing up Super Mario World and I am addicted. I have never played a game where hand-thumb coordination is so great.
Sure, I get fun of at college because I know nothing about gaming but I am learning, and the Wii has been helping me a great deal.

I'm happy to be a Wii owner, but I'm ecstatic to be a Wii60 owner. Honestly, with the late-summer to winter lineup for both consoles, I've got enough to play for the next year or more. And some games (Smash and Halo 3) I'll be playing for the next 3 or 4 years.
I think the Wii is a very good complement to one of the other consoles, though the Wii is my number one console on the strength of Nintendo's franchises and the VC.

Agreed, comparing it to other systems is not even fair. I'm a multi-system owner and my Wii is the most fun when entertaining.

I'm really satisfied with my Wii. I've even passed along my satisfaction to two other people, one of whom has already bought a Wii and the other is in negotiations with his wife. I have to agree with a lot of people on the game selection as of right now. If it weren't for MP3, I'd be spending most of my time on VC and GC games rather than my Wii ones. When I throw Wii get-togethers, I play SSB:Melee and Mario Kart:DD just as much, if not more, than Rayman or Wii Sports. The future lineup of games looks awesome, though. Galaxy, SSBB, Guitar Hero III, Rayman 2, Wii Mario Kart and the hopes of some good RPGs to round things out. There are a lot of good reasons to play the Wii coming up very soon.

Heh, Wii60 FTW, definitely. I bounce between the two regularly. After launch, it was Zelda, then some XBLA games, then Super Paper Mario, then Crackdown, then BioShock, then Metroid, and when I finish that, it'll be Eternal Sonata, then Mario Galaxy... the list goes on, and it's a pretty good balance between the two consoles. I love 'em both, and wouldn't give up either.
That said, I eventually owned all 3 of last generation's consoles, and really loved at least a few exclusives on each. Because of that, I've been more disappointed than angry or gloating or whatever that the PS3 has done so damn poorly thus far... my wallet would regret it, but I'm actually sad that Lair and Heavenly Sword were such let-downs. I feel like Metal Gear (or maybe Final Fantasy) is the last-ditch application of the paddles to the patient before the doctor gives up and calls the time of death.
Heh, can you tell I've been playing too much Trauma Center lately?

What I think everyone is missing is that innovation of the Wii doesn't begin and end with the Wiimote. This is a slot-loading, fanless, always-on console with built-in Wifi that is only the size of a few DVD cases. If the design goals were different, then the graphics would have been similar to the 360 or PS3, but they would also need to be turned off most of the time, and be much bulkier and louder.
Sure some of you have plenty of space for yet another DVD-player sized console in your entertainment center, but I know I sure didn't. While Sony and Microsoft pushed bigger and bigger consoles, Nintendo went the opposite direction. While most developers create longer prettier lazy couch-potato games, Nintendo develops active games like Wii-Sports, Warioware, Wii Play, and Wii Fit. Would you ever expect a 360 or PS3 in a gym?

Comparing to the other consoles is not entirely fair. We also own a PS3 and as for the depth of games, graphics and a more intense experience, the PS3 wins hands down. The Wii only has a handful of games of interest in our house-- we purchased it mostly for our young daughters. Its a lot of fun for us as well, don't get me wrong, but the Wii is more like video games-lite. Newer games are getting better, but right now, the offerings are few. For younger kids, it's great. If you're into getting immersed in a games graphics, sound and complexity, the other consoles still rule the roost. We love the Wii, but know its still got lots of room to improve.
