A NeoGAFfer named ram reports that Sega's arcade/Dreamcast fishing game Sega Bass Fishing (known in Japan by the much catchier name Get Bass) will see a 2008 release on the Wii. Apparently, rather than a new game, this will be a port of the original with new content (including changing weather conditions and 15 different locales). The very Dreamcast-like screens he posted would certainly support that conclusion. We don't know what the source is for the information or the screens, unfortunately.
Considering how well the Dreamcast fishing controller works for Wii-like tennis, we wonder if Sega will have some special insight for fishing with the Wiimote and Nunchuk.

I may get flamed for this one but I really don't care. Who in their right mind would want to buy a fishing game? Go to a lake and fish for free if you are so bent on the sport. But paying money to fish on your TV that is just plain half brained. Yeah sure it might be a good investment if you live in the South West were river, lakes, and ponds are not common but still fishing is boring and even in real life most time in this sport is just sitting and waiting.
Sorry guys I had to get that out. I am in no way knocking the sport of fishing but I am knocking any fishing video game. At least in real fishing you have something to eat after you catch one. I also have this opinion on hunting games.

It's an arcade game. It's faster-paced than fishing. Things actually happen.
I hate fishing, but Sega Bass Fishing is fun. I'm also pretty sure I wouldn't like driving a taxi in real life, but Sega lets me enjoy that.

You could say that about every simulation-style game that's not based in a fantasy world. Sports games, driving games, hell, the Japanese have a Wii game about driving trains! I'd agree that fishing is a little more boring and more accessible than, say, the NFL or a 200-mph racetrack, but I cannot STAND to watch golf yet LOVE Tiger Woods on the Wii, so everyone's going to have an opinion on this. Hunting games... let's see, if you are an avid hunter you might enjoy a little video game hunting. I don't see anything wrong with that.
For the record, though, I don't really care if this game comes to Wii or not, I won't be buying. Everybody complains about crappy ports... I don't because I DON'T BUY THEM. I've got half a dozen great Wii games and another 3-5 coming this year, I couldn't care less about ports.
As long as I don't have to look at their screenshots.

I may finally be able to box up my DC and put it in the closet if this is true. And add online multiplayer and leaderboards please. Oh and re-release Marine Fishing for the Wii while you're at it.
