The crew at IGN sat down to throw down in some Smash Bros. Brawl earlier today, taking care to write up their impressions and upload some video of the happenings for all of the internet to see. Available to those lucky enough to try the demo are 14 different characters and 10 different maps, allowing those to play the demo as Mario, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Fox, Pikachu, Pit, Meta Knight, Ike, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser and, recent newcomer, Sonic. Also of note, the demo allowed players to use the Wiimote to control the action or the Classic controller. Some of the crew at IGN preferred the Wiimote, for the use of the d-pad, while others chose the analog control of the Classic controller. Were it us, we'd go Classic as well.
Hit up past the break for some more footage.

Lookin' hot. I just hope the game doesn't get delayed in the US as it did in Japan. *crosses fingers*

Why are the character icons still huge? The picture of their face takes up the entire character!

So no demo option for GC or Wiimote n' chuk control?
cuz those are the two i'm going to use, being that both have both analogue control and rumble, GC for multiplayer, Wiimote n' chuk for single-player (more sprawl space when its just me, and nothing does lazy gaming right like conforming to the shape of the couch, the two controller parts resting on both knees)

"Sonic is also an interesting fighter, as he has a ton of seeking moves. A regular special attack sends him spinning into the air at what seems to be the nearest character, delivering a combo of hits in the process."
Hmm... that worries me just a bit. I've never liked elements in gaming that take the control out of your hands. I hope Sonic doesn't become a cheap character, with people effortlessly homing in on other players with automatic accuracy. I want him to be fast, but I want to be the one aiming and delivering the attacks, too.

Remember, it's a demo. They haven't announced all the participants yet.

Is that footage, like, chroma key'd in afterwards? It looks really crisp compared to the rest of the footage, and occasionally the gamepad movements don't match the on-screen movement. It's more noticeable in the menu clip.
Looks like it'll be awesome fun. Shame it was delayed. :(

Okay, watching video one, looking real nice, I want to play this game so badly... got annoyed wanting them to just pick their characters and a level, but ended up going back to try and identify all the levels. My results? Well, it's blurry, but I'm certain the first one in the second row is an unannounced level. It clearly has the Metroid symbol, and I am quite sure that it says Norfair in the blurred text. That is, what we in the biz, would like to call a win.
Now for the second video... a little hectic, I can't quite tell everything that's going on due to the size of the screen, blurriness, and the fact that I don't want to repeatedly watch it. But I think I caught a glimps of the fireflower's return, and clearly we can finally see the lowest level of Castle Siege that was otherwise unknown.
Now Nintendo, would you please send this demo out to download? I don't care what it takes; make us buy special USB hard drives, tell us to just empty most of our space for it, I don't care. I want it so badly right now.

wow. With all this impact of delays and footage, it makes us want it more.
the LEAST nintendo could do is provide us with some sort of demo disc for brawl. Come on, they NEED to with this being one of the most hyped games they've ever had.

Ugh. Had I been there, I would have had my cube controller with me.
Maybe I'm a little too attached to it, but hey, it's gotten me a few tournaments. :]
The delay will be worth it. Have faith in the Big N, I suppose.

Ever since the SBB Dojo started daily updates I been hook thinking what new character could
they come up with, so to keep my self sane I've made this >>click http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g10/apjgraphix/meleetobrawl.jpg
:
I've been updating it and adding the new characters as they are confirmed. Been doing this for a few months now. To the left of the black line you have all my predictions for brawl. The ones on the right are the SSBB roster thus far. You'll notice that several of them have black and white counterparts on the left side. This is because I've predicted them, added the new images and made the old ones colorless. The characters that came after the announcement of Fox and lack a B&W twin on the left, are the ones I didn't see coming...
What you think.??
