We'll come right out and say it: we love the Virtual Console, but Nintendo has lagged behind a little when it comes to the next-gen online marketplace. Don't mistake us -- we love the chance to replay classic games, because we love classic games, but some of the features found, say, on XBLA, would make nice additions. We've also been waiting for original content ... and when it comes to that, it certainly appears that Nintendo is about to deliver. Fifteen bucks seems pretty reasonable for a full-fledged Square Enix title (we just hope it's more than five minutes long), and then we've got karaoke and Bomberman to look forward to. But what's best is the idea of a Dr. Mario with online multiplayer. Now we're starting to feel like we are about to get a full-fledged online marketplace of our own, and we like it. With all of this, plus Iwata's statement about the sheer volume of titles proposed for Wii Ware, we're pretty deeply enthused. You?Wii Warm Up: Let's talk Wii Ware

Is it a bad thing that the most exciting news to many is a retro game with new tweaks? This is something that the XBLA has been doing for quite some time now and maybe it's what the community hope for in the Virtual Console when it was first unveiled. I was really hoping for more original content than old-but-better-than-before ideas. Don't get me wrong, the Dr. M(ii)ario title looks like it will be great and I will probably buy it. I'm just saddened that the most intriguing one is the Square-Enix title, which looks to be more like a Sim City game than a Final Fantasy game. There's just a shortage of good RPGs for the Wii right now (excluding, of course, all the GC titles that you can play on it). Pricing seems about right if we get full games. I don't know. I think I'm still up in the air on this and will need to see more before I can start passing a final judgement.

I found the Wii-Ware announcements to be thoroughly reassuring. A Wifi enabled Dr. Mario seemed like a no brainer, and is exactly what I was hoping for. In one announcement, they eased my fears. Our little console will never have the online integration the Xbox has, but I think this is a clear sign we will definitely be seeing more original content, and retropalooza. I’m even hopeful for some side scrolling Mario action.
I have been upset with the slow progression of online play, but If I can play my friends in Dr. Mario, all is forgiven. Take your time gents, take your time.

One thing to think about was: did Nintendo expect the Wii to be this successful? Perhaps the biggest reason why all this stuff is taking so long to hit us, was because they had the ideas, but didn't know if the public would like the ideas. Or they never had the ideas, but because of the success they took suggestions, and just came up with a lot of the stuff. Or they brought out the Wii to just compete with the others, and not get left in the dust, and they weren't ready quite at release date. Either way, I'm excited about all these new ideas, and way to take my paycheck....

The Wii HD was pretty much confirmed when they claimed you could download that Crystal Chronicals game. It doesn't matter how short the game is; it's going to be at least 1/5th of your 500mb already. Logistically, it's impossible. We're probably going to see some storage solutions coming from Nintendo fairly soon.

I am really excited about WiiWare. In particular, Dr. Mario. I love that game and online competitive play will make it very addicting - just like Tetris DS.

... When I thought that WiiWare might be too far away, I came to sudden realization that in fact there are already at least two WiiWares in a wild: Everybody Votes Channel and Internet Channel. First uses 3D graphics. Second is heavy user of 2D graphics (think Flash media).

It does seem like they are getting it together with the online. MoH Heroes: 2, or whatever order that is in, looks to be promising with 32 players online. We'll see how it works out. I love playing my DS games via Wi-Fi. Especially Tetris as mentioned above. I haven't played in a while though because I'm at college and the Wi-Fi in my dorm is incredibly locked. I mean, we're talking 800 MB limit. But, that's alright, don't need that much for schoolwork anyway.
It would make sense if they suddenly announced an HDD addon, what with all this DLC they're adding and expect us to download. However, that is more than likely to not happen in my opinion.

Oh yeah, Nintendo Announcement days 07 (as i shall call them) were a breath of fresh air after some time of doubt about the little box's future (although most of the doubt was just FUD from those idiots who think Wii will kill the gaming industry)

I'm just hoping more games like Final Fantasy is being created...I don't want to be bombarded with so many arcade games.

I think we'll get flash drive support before we get hard drive support.
A 4GB Flash drive is cheap enough now(19.99 on sale at Radio Shack), and is easy enough to put a dongle in one of the USB ports of the Wii instead of having a Hard Drive the same size of the Wii hooked up to it...
Sorry for those that need 250GB Hard Drives hooked up to you Wii.

I'm just not paying more than 500 wiipoints for Dr. Mario and for any Nintendo-remake not even with the addition of on-line multiplayer. But for any other title if it looks like fun I will get it.
Also I agree with tiamat1990 (comment 11)

I'd like to see a Waluigi wii ware game. That would be tubular.Come on Nintendo, up until now you've only given people more reasons to hate Luigi's mysterious purple rival. It doesn't even matter what the game is about, just give him something other than being a spin-off player.
I'd also be excited for a door opening simulator.
You could pick the wood grain, type of handle, door style, tempature, wind speed. The possibilities are endless.
