Gaming analyst Michael Pachter is reporting that the Wii could be knocked from its comfortable, safe throne this month, as he is predicting the September NPD numbers will show the Xbox 360 on top. Apparently, some game called Halo 3 was a big deal and everyone perhaps went nutty over it. Yeah, we don't get it.Pachter explained his predictions, stating "forecasts for the Wii and the DS reflect our belief that supplies remain somewhat constrained." He added that "Our Xbox 360 forecast reflects an expected boost in hardware sales due to the introduction of Halo 3." Well, games do make the system, so we guess we understand.
Oh well, what goes up, must come down, right?

MGS4 for the PS3 will be the test for the PS3. If it doesn't sell many more PS3s, then the PS3 won't ever catch the Wii or 360.

Well, you say "no duh", but I point to Patcher's prediction that "With the price-cut, the PS3 will outsell the Xbox360", which also never happened.
Thus, if Patchers said it:
Congratulations Wii.

Woah, Halo 3 sold some hardware? Imagine that, I wonder if anyone thinks Mario Galaxy will sell hardware? You think maybe this s something new? Popular games selling hardware?
The Wii hasn't had anything major to come to it in a while, but that will change soon. Every system has ups and downs. It's about time the 360 started selling well. I feel sorry for Microsoft though, with all of those systems it will be even more costs to them once they go through the red ring of death.
I'd have picked up a 360 if I didn't have a PC, and/or they really fixed their hardware so it wouldn't die with regularity.
But, good for them. More games for gamers is always good.

Pachter saying something hardly makes it true... has anyone kept track of his accuracy over the past year? I seem to recall more misses than hits.
However, this would be a well-deserved win for MS. The last couple of months have brought us some truly great 360 titles!

Hmm. The 360's alright, but I hardly think that Halo 3 coming out will make thousands of people spend 350 bucks on a 360, then spend 60 on Halo 3, then 50 more bucks for Xbox Live. I mean, every console has "those games", but anyone who wants Halo 3 undoubtdedly already has a 360.

#8, really? I've been at Best Buy several times since September 25, and see people pick up two items - Halo 3, and an Xbox 360. Yes it IS leading to sales. The Wii? Mine has been powered on only to stop the blue flashing from the TWO most recent updates. I'm seriously considering selling it since I picked up a 2nd 360 and there are some party games coming out for it that I can play with my 5 & 7 year old.

Well, it makes sense, the best software Wii got last month was Dewy's Adventure, which is an insignificant speck of dust compared to Halo 3 (and fairly insignificant even to Heavenly Sword, the big PS3 game of last month)

And all because Metroid didn't have online arena battles.
If I was Nintendo, I would stop all in-house development and fix the entire online experience. The rest of the system is pretty great, but the Wii Friend codes and the lack of multiplayer online is a huge weakness.

Really? No way! Dumb ass...
Same goes for the big titles. Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to sell hardware and so is Super Smash Brawl. God people really hate that the Wii is on top don't they...

I don't get all this "who is selling better" nonsense. Surely there is room for both consoles to do well? However I can't imagine that anyone not into gaming deciding to buy an Xbox360 over a Wii.
