Skipping making an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Meowth is returning in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. As you might expect, his attack deals with showering the battlefield in precious, precious gold coins. For such a greedy little guy, it's somewhat odd that he'd choose to part with some of his fortune just to put the hurting on your enemies. But, at least he has the good greed to never part with that coin on his head.
Are we happy to see him returning to the field of battle?
Update: Turns out, there was another update at the dojo we overlooked. The controls for using the Wiimote are also explained.

I'm just posting to alleviate the iron grip Elijah has on this comments section. I like Meowth, it's nice they're not putting any of the new pokemon us old people don't know about in.

I agree with Hinkle on the MK issue. Scorpion never started to look like an old man.
But on the topic of what the Japanese page says, your guess is as good as mine. I used the babelfish translator, and here is the corresponding paragraph. I believe that we lost something in translation, like THE THIN BARRIER SEPARATING US FROM THE GAPING MAW OF PURE CHAOS. Or something like that.
It is? As for having been attached to the forehead "the gold coin" probably will be however,
In the foreign country how it probably is said.
If ' the スマブラ fist ' you look at overseas edition, whether it is understood? ?

I apologize for the double post, but if anyone wants to view the "translated" japanese page in its entirety, you may follow this link:

Select Japanese to English, and paste this URL in the appropriate text box.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have discovered a machine that produces pure Engrish.

It's just a reference to the Japanese name for that kind of coin -- an old gold coin called a 'koban.'
The reason Meowth has a koban on its head is because there's an old Japanese proverb, 'neko ni koban' -- 'like a gold coin to a cat.' The meaning's just about identical to our phrase 'pearls before swine' -- which, I've always thought, is why they eventually created Spoink...
The original page was mostly just wondering, 'okay, what do they call a koban in foreign countries, and will they really get the reference?'

As far as modern games, I have no opinion. But in the classic games, Sub Zero crushes Scorpion!
Anyways, I don't like Meowth's face. It's too complacent, like it doesn't ever change despite throwing gigantic coins at you.
Oh, and the Wiimote control scheme looks surprisingly tolerable to use. I was watching the videos on IGN and I was surprised by how well the buttons are mapped. Previously, I thought it would be intolerably frustrating. Now, it's not looking too bad (although with three other control schemes, it'll be awhile before I settle on one to use).

Such a simple control scheme can totally work on the DS now. I mean the DS has more buttons than the Wiimote. Also I too want an event match with Pokemon Trainer versus Meowth et al.
