After the rumors started rumbling yesterday, more and more sites are piling on this morning to assure everyone that Okami has indeed been confirmed for the Wii by Capcom. It won't be long before we see it, either, if early reports are correct; the game is currently scheduled for a spring release, and full motion-control functionality is planned.Word is that footage from the game -- at least in the form of screencaps -- will be available as early as today, so we should soon see just how the under-appreciated PS2 title will look on the Nintendo console.
[Update: Check after the jump for a slide from Capcom's event that reveals the development team and more.]

Awesome! I am totally getting this if it turns out to be true, which is what all the signs are pointing too. Again, Awesome! This is just the type of game the Wii needs more of right now. By this time next year it will be so much better than it is right now. Can't wait to add this to my collection!

...FYI being more then happy is a serious mental condition.
"We had to lock Dave in the mental home because he was... ugh... more then happy."

Lets hope this game isn't overshadowed by SSBB.

I don't really know much about this game, but I'm glad to hear that Nintendo has scored another great exclusive from Capcom.
Okami, Monster Hunter...what could be next?!?

I don't think this game ever hoped to appeal to the same audience as SSB. This game is the closest thing to high art I have ever played - pure wonder and beauty. I have played for 80 hours or so on PS2 and I will still buy this for Wii as long as they add widescreen support. I need the extra few inches of faux canvas on each side to make my life complete.

HELL YEAH!!!!! I will put my PS2 game on hold and wait for this beauty. I beat half of the game, then Halo3 came out. Man I need to plan my Okami playing when nothing good is coming out. I bought a PS2 to tide me over for a month and a half while I waited for the Wii. Then I sold it. Me wants so bad! Please Capcom, can we has Okami!!!

Sonic13: This isn't an exclusive, it's a port (albeit one with motion controls).
I bought the PS2 Okami for my fiance as a birthday present earlier this year, but would've loved to have gotten him a Wii version instead... why couldn't this announcement have been made earlier?! D:

THANK YOU CAPCOM!
It feels like one last final hurrah for Clover Studios (although I believe that already happened in the form of Godhand). I'm a little peeved, however, that Capcom will be using Clover's work after their disestablishment to "reap a green harvest of cash money." Oh well. All I know is I've been wanting to play Okami ever since I heard about it, and since I've never owned a PS2, this is awesome news. Maybe if this game sells well enough, Capcom will realize that they royally [screwed] up.
In short, YES.

Capcom is certainly showing the Wii some love. That's really cool and I hope they have a lot more in store for us.

@Sonic_13: I am hoping for the Devil May Cry series. That would be great on Wii. Also Mega Man in Brawl would rock my socks.

I'm so stoked. Even though I have this game for PS2 I'll pick it up day one for the Wii. It's just that good.

This is GREAT NEWS!!!!
I have been holding off buying the PS2 version of this because I don't much care for the controller (they make my hands hurt after about 30 minutes).
I will be there on release day with money in hand so I can finally experience this the way it should be...with a 'real' brush!

I always wanted to try this (in part, just to see what all the fuss is about). I'm glad to get the opportunity to do so now.
