Despite Ready at Dawn stating that Okami would be an exact port of the PS2 game, Capcom's Senior director of strategy Christian Svensson doesn't want us to fret that this will be a "quick and dirty" port. He assures us that Ready at Dawn will be doing their best to make sure this game stands out from the PS2 version.
Of course, that doesn't mean he's ready to discuss possible additions to the Wii version. First priority is to get the game up and running, as he states "The game is enormous. If after we have everything working correctly, cleanly and as desired so as not to "break" the amazing experience that is Okami, we will worry about potential enhancements." That time could be a ways off, however, as he further adds "As we are NOT at that point in the process yet, we are loathe to even mention any potential changes or enhancements for fear of disappointing the fans/media."
What would you guys like to see make it into the game? What kind of improvements and/or changes would make the title more desirable on the Wii for yourself?

Okami might not be a straight port now?

As long as it works well I really don't care. New stuff would be cool but it was fine how it was. It seems to be we always want more out of something that sometimes doesn't need it. A solid port with no bugs would make me happy.

To be honest? A little more vivid color.
Some of the colors seemed a little washed out at times, I don't know if this was intentional, or a result of the elaborate effects the game used... but I'd like it to be a little more vibrant. There were times it was pretty colorful, other times it didn't seem that way.
Like this screenshot for example...

It's kinda bland... that's all I'm saying. There were alot of times the colors in RE4 on the PS2 seemed a tad dull compared to the Wii or Gamecube versions... So hoping that can be improved on.

Side-quests and some reworkings for Wii power
Which, aside from the tweaked control scheme, is all we can really ask for

For the LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, please don't add pointless waggle sequences ("shake your remote to break free!"). Just use the buttons and the stick for control, maybe look with a button + the pointer or something. Obviously, paint with the pointer.
If the controls are solid and everything else works like the PS2 version, I'd probably pay 30 bucks for it, like RE4. If they want to tack on some extra content, I'm fine with that, but I probably still wouldn't pay full retail. A "Master Quest" version (like the original Zelda, with very similar content but locations mixed up and harder enemies) would kick ass, as would any other sort of "new game plus", where you can do something useful with the stuff you collect on your first play-through. Maybe in "new game plus", you could keep all your collectibles so you can finish missing collections more easily while still going back through the story again. Anything that gives me a solid incentive to play it more than once would be awesome.

Oh, and I almost forgot: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! get rid of that babble sound effect when text dialogs are being typed out. My wife hated that sound so much she gave me a dirty look if I tried to play the game while she was in the room. It does get kind of annoying, and doesn't add anything to the gameplay.
I wouldn't argue with full voiceovers, if you can get some decent actors to do it. Otherwise, just cut down on the amount of dialog generally...

Its really odd to see how skewed this post is from the actual content of the original interview which was basically Christian Svensen from capcom defending himself and the fact that the game WILL be a straight port...repeat that WILL BE A STRAIGHT PORT, agains fanboys demanding he had extra content to the Wii version of Okami.
"We selected Ready at Dawn to do the port. These guys are all ex-Naughty Dog and ex-Blizzard. If we wanted a cheap and dirty port, I could have turned around and picked any one of 50 houses and gotten it done for less and perhaps more quickly. Clearly, that wasn't the approach we sought for a variety of reasons (for the fans, for the reputation of our company, for the potential of the product, etc.). Given that the only port we've done to date was RE4, which has a 90+ gamerankings score and provided AMAZING value for the platform, has this really been Capcom's modus operendi such that this allegation should be leveled at us?"
Svensson goes on to applaud such Wii efforts as Zak & Wiki, before adding that no additions to the Wii Okami have been announced because nobody's at a stage to make such announcements yet. He then defends the lack of extra content by saying: ""We've got no current plans to make a 40-60 hour game 50-70 hours."
so why skew it for the hopeful wii owners only to be hurt by a weak library and noexistant third party support yet again? if youre going to report, do it honestly and accurately. its only fair.

Just for fun (also if they still have the data), I wouldn't mind them adding in a few bonus playable stages using the original graphics/art style. :) I thought Okami looked pretty awsome with the realistic style they went with first as well as how it came out to looking. Only other thing I can think of is that I hope they put consideration into the Wii's power and cut down on loads and/or load times and maybe, MAYBE give the option to choose between wiimote/nunchuck and the classic controller.

Ditto on the 480p and widescreen. Otherwise the game is perfect as it is.

9 and 11 are right NO DAMN CHANGES except widescreen and 480p (if the original wasn't 480p, not sure if it wasnt or not, I know it WASNT widescreen. and for the love of god, if anyone from RAD reads this, DO NOT give us widescreen by cropping the content. IE, do not cut off the top and bottom of the screen and zoom in to call it widescreen, my TV can do that itself thank you very much, either show us more of the section we're in or don't widescreen at all. Thanks.

I'd love a straight port. Resident Evil 4, on the Wii, was unbelievably good - and it was a port.
By the time Okami came out on the PS2, I had stopped buying PS2 games - even though Okami (and God Hand) both intrigued me, I was done. The Wii has brought me back to gaming and the timing for Okami is ripe.

I'd like some of the main models used in the game to be upped a few polygons... that can't be very hard. And also add/remake some effects to better use the extra power of the Wii. Also higher res textures please! And different control options... And maybe more voice acting would make it different from the PS2 version (I haven't played it though, so I don't know how much voice acting would add..). I might have to write all this on my letter to santa...
