When Nintendo sent us an email this weekend, we had some trouble making it out. We found images of Mario and Buzz Aldrin hanging out in a zero gravity environment, but we failed to see just how this coming together of the two celebrates the release of the upcoming
Super Mario Galaxy. Seriously, it was just a press release of a couple of images depicting the two hanging out.
As responsible bloggers, we felt obligated to present them. But, we're sure that after this little photo shoot, the inside of that Mario suit must smell something awful. And, we hope the person inside remembered the cardinal rule of being around Buzz: don't ever say he faked the moon landing.
See what we mean past the post break.

Have some respect for a pioneer, man.
Video games would be nothing if it weren't for Mario.
Oh, Buzz did something noteworthy as well.

Not sure who I would feel more sorry for, Mario or Buzz. Are they trying to kickstart another space race with Mario Galaxy?

PHOTOSHOP!
Actually, the photo was taken upside down. It's obviously a helium filled mario balloon. Geez. All you sheeple think that "Zero Gravity" is possible. Let me ask you something. Drop a pencil on the floor. It goes down, right? Now do it again. IT STILL GOES DOWN!!! Therefore, "Zero Gravity" does not exist.

You can simulate zero gravity with places and stuff

At #7: If Mario is filled with Helium, then how the heck did Buzz get up there?!

@the last few comments and especially thethirdmoose:
This was taken on one of the zero-g planes run by Zero Gravity Corporation (http://www.gozerog.com/). The plane is able to replicate weightlessness by flying in parabolic curves.
Also, did you forget about the fact that this Mario game is set in space - thus the simulated space with one of the great space pioneers. And that comment about the Mario suit smelling afterwards? What the hell is that about?

The gravity changes in SMG probably has something to do with it.

Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were the first two men to walk on the moon in case you guys forgot -_-
So it makes pretty darn good sense to have Mario do a photo-op with a real-life space explorer when his new game's all about Mario rocketing into space and exploring strange new planets.
Also: I love that Buzz, at 80, can lift a punk off his feet with one shot.
