Oh, Project H.A.M.M.E.R. You were a go, then you weren't, then you were, and now? Officially, the last we heard was that the hammer-wielding hero's adventure was on "indefinite hold," but the word in the backchannels is that the game is no more. It is dead. It is an ex-game. And frankly, we are sad ... especially now that, thanks to NeoGAF poster Shiggy, we're seeing a little more from the probably-defunct title. In these screens (and the video after the break) from the devkit, the game looks to have had a very distinctive feel, similar in a sense to No More Heroes (or perhaps more like Killer 7) ... or any number of stylized comic books we've seen over the years. In a word, it could have been gorgeous, and as a bonus, we could have been beating things with a hammer.

Man, that did look like an awesome game. Imagine destroying all those beautifal environments with a hammer!
Seriously though, I was really looking forward to this one too. It's a shame it got the boot... or
the hammer.
duh dah duh

While I don't mind the loss, I do mind the reason why it was canned.
Between this, and Galaxy's not-so-hot sales in Japan, I hope Ninty doesn't shift focus to stupid dog sims.

Again, the development team who was shifted off of this is the one division of Nintendo that is the most attuned to Western Tastes (well, maybe second to Retro). When Nintendo Software Technology works on something else, it probably isn't going to be a "non-game"
But i am surprised, i assumed that this was simply an over-elaborate tech demo, i hadn't been aware that there was depth and a measure of awesome to this

Apparently they canned it because it was sucking. I was kinda interested in what I saw, too, but if Nintendo says it sucks and isn't worth playing, I'll take their word for it.

Samfish, I find it hard to believe that Nintendo would stop developing a title because it 'sucks'. If a game sucks, you make it better. Stopping development on a title and starting another project is far more expensive than fixing a game, one would think.
