If you've got time between jamming out to Metallica's "One" and Slayer's "Raining Blood," then you you might be interested in knowing that Guitar Hero III is quite the popular game with Wii owners. Never saw it coming, eh? Well, the game enjoyed 622,580 connections on Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connect service during the week ending November 4th, coming in second only to Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, which had 1,455,526 connections.
Are you one of those 622,580 folks who took the game online?

Finally a big third party on-line game on the Wii. And a big one that is.
Guess on-line is really starting to grow (GH, Medal of Honor, Brawl). Good thing, I like the DS on-line games a lot, and expect the same level of quality on the Wii.
Now I only have to start printing money so to buy the guitar bundle (hell, I wished I had bought Nintendo stocks...)

i've taken it online once, and got a little frustrated with the interface. i kept trying to set up a game, but no one would ever join. then i tried to join a game, and i had to play "mississippi queen" (a song i'm not fond of) on easy (a setting i'm not fond of).
i'm still waiting to buy a separate extra guitar controller so that i can do a two-player co-op campaign at home!

Yep that includes me. It's such an amazing game. Can't get enough of it. Now I wait for my GameFly rental of Zack & Wiki to arrive, and for Mario Galaxy to launch...

Gotten online with my GH3 several times. Not flawless but, overall good experiences. Except you can't pause at all. So you just chalk that one up instantly to a loss.

@5
the album is called reign in blood, the song is actually named rainning blood
""Raining Blood" is the final track from thrash metal band Slayer's 1986 album, Reign in Blood. The song has become a live staple played at every Slayer show since its release, and featured on every Slayer live album and DVD." - wiki

I like the online play, especially the Pro Face-Offs. I've been able to smoke almost everyone thus far, but you can already tell people are getting better, the guy I played last night was a master of knowing when to get the best score with star power.

@Ben
Close, the album that it's from is called "Reign In Blood", but the song itself is indeed called "Raining Blood".
I took it online once, but unless you have friends that you can set up matches with then the random matches can be pretty dissatisfying. I, too, am waiting for the second guitar that I can get so I can play co-op.
Online play is one thing, but we really need downloadable content like the other platforms have. Doesn't seem like there are any plans for that on the Wii yet, however.

You damn wii users are never satisfied.
You wanted online, you got online. Now stop bitching about downloadable content which you never asked for. They'll probably release some via the shop channel sooner or later anyway.
I mean you had fun with your old NES that didn't have online nor downloadable content nor virtual console and you thought it was a great machine.
Downloads are BONUS content, not FUN content get over it :)

If so many people are playing online, why can the game never find me a goddamn match?!

He wasn't "bitching" so much as saying that he wants a feature that the other online enabled GH3s have.
Some people need to chill out.

I got the 360 GH 3 because I didnt like the way the guitar vibrates when you use star power. >

Couple things annoy me so far more than I enjoy the game.
1) Second Controller? WTF? You can't even find them to back order anywhere let alone find one. Wouldn't those idiots think that those of us with a Wii might want to play co-op with someone?
2) The wireless only works with other Wiis. WTF? I mean WTF? it isn't connecting the two machines together, they're connecting to a server. littly tiny bits of data are flying. Why on earth is it not cross platform? I'm so over people saying that it is hard to do. It isn't. Look at the WWW itself. How many different browsers are in use out there? 6, 8, 10? how many different platforms? 10 flavors of linux, 5 flavors of windows, 5 to 6 flavors of Mac OS and yet they all work

Has anyone had problems playing a friend invite game vs. a strangers match? I can find random games but I am not able to set up an online game with my friend that lives near by. I'm guessing it is a firewall issue, but has anyone else had this problem?

I had spoken with some Gamestop people during the release who said that they thought the single Wii guitar was coming out in December. I went there last night and they looked at the scheduled releases to February 2008 and there was no sight of the separate guitar. Since my parents wanted to play co-op (they have a Wii. I have PS2), I went ahead and bought the bundle again and they will just trade in the game when that option becomes available.

We ended up purchasing two bundles so we could have a second guitar. But we can not get the second guitar to connect to the game. We have replaced batteries thinking that might be the issue, but still nothing. Is there a trick?

Two words... Extra Guitars. It obviously is not that hard to do, but i have a feeling that we will not see any extra guitar attachments for a while because it is better for the company that makes it to force us to buy the game again (even though we do not need it) just to get an extra guitar. We will only see a way to buy an extra guitar when a different company *Not any of the companies that made the game* makes a knockoff version. Then and only then will we see any extra controllers from the people who made the game.
