According to a Zogby poll, the games of choice for conservatives are Madden and Mario, while liberals like Mario and The Sims. See the common denominator? Even middle-of-the-road folks love him, choosing mostly to play Mario, Donkey Kong, and Madden.
We don't know how reliable a poll like this is (as Game Politics points out, where are all the Halo players?), but one thing is certain: the people love their Mario.
Suddenly, the term "Mario Party" seems to have taken on a whole new meaning.

The Halo players are too busy at their keggers to get into politics.

I agree with #1, and besides, I don't run around with my hat on backwards and no shirt on enough to be a good Halo player.

Maybe 'Mario Party 8' should be renamed as 'Mario Party 08' and themed on a political angle...
Think of the possibilities, instead of stars/coins you could have electoral votes (although coins should probably still buy stars/votes for a little realism), Bowser could be replaced by a Republican/Democrat/Independant* (* - delete as appropriate) you don't like. Instead of moving round a board, you can fly round a map of the US...
A possible Wii Ware title anyone?

The Halo players don't show up because the reality is that people who play/played Halo make up a a rather small fraction of people who play games.
...you'd just never know it judging by all the over bearing hype and crap.

That's all fine and good until you find out what Mario's platform is and the mudslinging starts.
