It was with great excitement that we told you about a Ghostbusters game coming to the Wii, espcially with such a huge part of the cast and crew being part of the project. Another little detail has surfaced through a Variety article, though, which had the effect of smashing some of our excitement into tiny bits of desperation. As is stated in the article, "Developer Terminal Reality is making a 'Ghostbusters' game for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 aimed primarily at the core gamer demographic, while Red Fly Studios is making a version for Playstation 2, Wii and DS designed more for families and casual gamers."When we first heard this game was coming to the Wii, we thought of how much fun it would be to suck up ghosts with our Wiimotes. If the Wii game is a dumbed down, "casual" version, however, you can bet we'll be getting Ghostbusters for another system instead. We'll just have to wait and see if more details arise, but for now we can feel our excitement plummeting.

Next you're going to tell me that the Wii version is actually a port of Ghostbusters 1 from the NES (or the ever so slightly better version from the Sega Master System). For those of you that don't remember, the game was embarrassingly terrible and annoying, even in those days.

If they screw this up for the Wii then it'll be THE biggest sin commited this generation. The Wii was literally *MADE* for a Ghostbusters game.
This is especially true if this game (for the PS360, at least) is essentially going to be what was always meant to be Ghostbusters 3.
I'm still thrilled to see Ghostbusters returning, but I swear to God I'm going to cry if the Wii version turns out to be as bad as it sounds.

UHGUHGHGUHGUGHUGHG i had a revival ghostbusters idea for a game 10 years ago, and then AS SOON as i saw that wiimote at e3, i put it all together. It involved driving the ecto-1, gun AND trap controls, differnet weapons based on old toys, i even pitched the idea to majesco representatives.
NOW im in school for game design, i am horribly pissed about this, but will end up buying it and loving it anyway...

Jesus everybody: did you look up Red Fly Studios? The game is called 'Mushroom Men' people. And they sound like a badass dev who will take the visuals and gameplay 'to the max.' And I think saying 'more oriented at casuals' is just the magazine's way of saying 'runs on Wii, PS2, and DS' instead of the faster systems.

No, "more oriented at families and casuals" means the graphics will be crappy and it'll be a bunch of minigames. Keep up with the jargon, Troy.

This is from Variety. Didn't we just see Variety dismiss Super Mario Galaxy out of hand because they were paid by Sony to do so? Isn't that just as likely what's happening here?

Yeah, the Wii controller is perfect. I just have visions of shooting them with the remote while "throwing" forward the nunchuk to get the trap underneath them...
But then again, maybe it means that GB for the other systems will be more like a standard FPS game and the Wii version might be more of a platformer, which I personally think would be better for a game like this.

Kind of the nature of the beast, the Wii is the "Family" console. Honestly I think the Wii may get fewer mature games then even the Gamecube mainly because of it's graphics ability compared to the other consoles this generation. Maybe it is a false view but it seems if you compared graphics between the different ratings of the ESRB, mature games would be most likely to be "cutting edge graphics" compared to say an E10 game. I'm sure we'll see a some mature games but they will probably have to have stylized graphics (See: No more Heroes) but franchises like Resident Evil and Silent Hill seem to be beyond the Wii's grasp. Oh well, Zak and Wiki is awesome.

I doubt Variety's credibility. The SMG review was sponsored by Sony!

Despite the negative spin, I think that the Wii/etc. version will be superior to the PS3/X360. Why? Terminal Reality is a crappy developer, responsible for the stinker series that is Bloodrayne. No thanks, their game may get flash, but no substance.
Red Fly Studios are the guys behind the quirky and interesting Mushroom Men. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with Red Fly's game instead of what will obviously be a big-budget-no-game stinker from Terminal Reality.

Well, I don't have any other system, so if Wii gets a Tard version, guess I won't be getting a new version. Oh well, it was cool while it lasted though. Nothing can bring me down, I'm still high from my last session of Mario Galaxy.

the wii is designed to be a casual console, so get over it. games like metroid, zelda, manhunt, and the others are the exception, not the rule.

Good grief, people. Maybe we could wait until we find out what the differences are between them before throwing our hands up and giving up on it.

I'd be more inclined to cheer for the devs of Mushroom Men then the devs of BloodRayne
