Well, I'm looking forwards to Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii, and on the DS I'm liking the looks of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. That's about it for year two that I've heard about that catches my eye.

I'd have to say the game I'm most looking forward to is Brawl, but I'm sure I'm not alone there.

I'm hoping that now Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy have come out and have shown that the Wii is more than capable of producing deep, epic games that look beautiful, developers will no longer be able to get away with cheap, mini-game-related, shovelware that looks and plays like garbage.
Also, if Nintendo uses next years' E3 to show nothing accept yet more speeches and graphs about many casual gamers they're appealing to.... well, I'll be annoyed, let's put it that way.

I'm hoping for at least the announcement of the new Zelda they are working on exclusively for the Wii(We all know TP was a port, thus breaking the usual chain of one Zelda game per console.
Also, Miyamoto I heard was working on a new IP =D I hope he at least announces something about it.

Definitely looking forward to Mario Kart. It would be nice if other, more substantial games were also announced. Galaxy and MP3 have been tops, but it would be nice to see some other developers attempting this kind of thing.
Also looking forward to more WiiWare content! Particularly for new small games.

Well, I'm looking for greatness to come out of Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I'm also looking (hoping?) for 3rd Party publishers to get their act together when it comes to producing cheap, lazy games. You know it's a problem when there's PSP ports.
I'm also looking for an improvement in online gaming. Voice chat would be amazing for me. I'm really looking forward to Wii Ware. I think that's going to be really cool.
Obviously some more VC games. Hopefully more N64 and Genesis games for me. I'm really looking forward to SSB on VC.
Possibly some Wiis in different colors would be cool. More importantly, Wiimotes in different colors.
I'm also looking for better channels. How 'bout some that aren't 3-year-old friendly? Really, I think Nintendo could ease up on the user-friendly level of the Channels.
A reinovation in the Everybody Votes Channel would be great.
But that's all I have. We'd be fortunate if half of those things turned out good/happened.

Brawl will no doubt be the biggest (and, presumably, best) Wii game of '08. But as for other titles... Kirby I've been looking forward to since its days back on the Cube. Animal Crossing could be amazing if they incorporate an actual sequel instead of an upgrade, with more play mechanics and a very robust online. Disaster: Day of Crisis looks to be a great new IP from Nintendo's second party, but with so little info on it, it could very well flop. Mario Kart, of course, though I'm not all too excited for it yet.
I imagine that nintendo will announce more games as GDC/Their own event rolls around march-juneish but what that'd be I don't know. I'm personally hoping for Pikmin 3 and a new, non-casual IP.
As for hardware, I could see nintendo putting more colours out there, but only after they can keep the thing in stores. They'll probably go for another attachment, something other than Wii Fit or something that is utterly useless to most people. I don't see them releasing anything other that though.
Which is disgraceful, as the Wii desperately needs a headset and a harddrive. It wouldn't be that hard, either. Just take the enormous profit your making off of VC games and let us be able to actually store all of ours on the system. And the headset? I just can't imagine Brawl's online being appealing without it.
But the most essential element of 2008 for the Wii will be third parties. Things like FPS controls and motion commands have been mastered by games like Heroes and Metroid Prime. Now, we have to see if developers will run with these things and make great sequels in series and new games or if they will continue with the shovelware and leave the good stuff to nintendo. Ubisoft has pledge to make better games and some studios are trying, but overall we're seeing too many bad games or games not living up to their potential. 2008 will be the year where Wii may become the PS2, with a wide variety of third party support and great games coming from pretty much everywhere, or the gamecube, where draughts between quality titles will last several months.

Well Brawl is definitely at the top of my list. Mark Kart is going to be second. As far as the way the 3rd party games coming out is concerned, I hope that a new series is going to catch on instead of a lot of port games. I'd really enjoy "finding" a new game that is spectacular. Not a sequel or anything like that, but a fresh idea that comes off as inspiring and ground breaking.

as i live in the uk there are far to many games im looking forward to that the USA already has!
zack and wiki, geomotey wars, batalion wars 2 to name a few.
but games to look out for include smash/mario kart/disaster/tomb raider and a few other.
i totally agree now that we have some choice games like metroid and mario people can see how good the machine can be and now the fun shoudl be starting all over again as companies will look to see what they can do now as they cant just keep brining us mini games as after a while no one is going to buy them.
I also read that somone is trying to post the quake area 3 engine to Wii which could be interesting if it works, but we should see more companies making head way into good looking games ubisoft said this time next year they will be making nintendo quality games on the Wii i hope so.
and one question i have to ask why cant we get a GTA, i mean we cant get the new one obviously but how about another Wii specific one liek they did with vice city stories on the psp the wii can def run the older engine with a few tweeks here and there!

Well, I'm looking forward to Mario Kart, and I'm hoping for the release of Wii Music, Pikmin and Animal Crossing, and the announcement of another Wii Zelda (whether Ocarina-style, Wind Waker-style, or something else as long as it's still Zelda.)

Wth, what happened to the rest of my post.
-____________-
Quick summary: I love Monolith Soft. Yay Wii version of Okami. Yay Fatal Frame IV although I don't know when it'll come out. Same with Oboro Muramasa Youtouden.
I hope the better third party developers and publishers (Atlus, Capcom, Square Enix, whoever else makes decent games) are able to turn fair profits. If people are buying the hardware but the glut of rubbish games is reducing sales for each company then the Wii could be in a lot of trouble.
I expect the WIi will do well but the velocity of its sales shouldn't outmatch those of the PS3 and the 360 quite as much next year.

How on earth could I have forgotten Oboro Muramasa Youtouden? Considering Odin Sphere is one of my favourite games of the last few years AND it is about ninjas, I think that game is probably one of my most anticipated. It simply looks amazing.
And for those who haven't played Odin Sphere, you are definately missing out.

Hear, hear! Well said.

M-Kart and Brawl will both be great (fingers crossed) but I'm also really looking forward to No More Heroes; a bit of the "mature" factor that the Wii has been/is lacking.
The other two things I'm eagerly awaiting are the new Dr. Mario from the WiiWare channel and A *HARD DRIVE* TO STORE IT ON!
Lords of Ninty, hear my prayer and bring us a f---ing hard drive!!
Amen.

Disaster: Day of Crisis, Zack and Wiki, Tomb Raider Anniversary are all things I'm looking forward to next year... although being in China for 6 months could well cramp my game buying significantly!

I think for Nintendo's core audience, 2008 is going to be a comparatively solid year.
We've got Smash Bros and Mario Kart announced, with both supposedly dropping before June. Not to mention Wii Ware, where the rumor is that Nintendo is prepping at least a 2D Mario and Zelda game for the service, and maybe other franchises. I'm still a bit concerned about what's coming out towards the end of the year. After Smash Bros, Nintendo's only big gun left is a new Zelda and there's no way that'll hit in 2008. Still, it's a looong ways off, so I figure SOMETHING worth looking forward to will come out for the '08 holidays.
For the casuals, Wii Fit will likely be a big seller. Wii Music probably could be, but I can't see it selling as well unless Nintendo throws a bunch of advertising money behind it. They'll also have that Family Trainer game or whatever it's called that comes with the updated Power Pad and Decco Sports looks like it has potential, too.
I just hope that Nintendo and the others realize that if they want these games to succeed, they NEED to make sure people know about them.

I am looking forward to No More Heroes, Brawl & Mario Kart (duh), to see Disaster evolve into something tangible, details on Animal Crossing Wii, BanDai Namco's new game Fragile, and King's Story
On the hardware/features side, i see Animal Crossing Wii heralding something slightly brighter in the online department (not a revolution, but a minor improvement of some sort), Nintendo will yield to the inevitability of Wii HDD, new colors (finally), and maybe a price drop at the tail-end of the year

i'll still be interested in the "fad" in 2008
games looking forward to or interested in: no more heroes, ssbb, mario kart online, endless ocean, houses of the dead 2&3, fragile, tales of symphonia 2, okami, spore, civilization, wii music, king's story, apollo justice: ace attorney, shiren the wanderer, animal crossing, star wars: force unleashed, red steel 2, disaster: day of crisis, and the final fantasy and dragon quest games if they are still coming.
hopes and expectations: more quality games and less shovelware and ports; sequels to f-zero, pilotwings; lots of 2-d side-scrolling action on wii-ware; and more online-enabled games.

I want a completely new IP from Miyamoto! Something as amazing as Mario, Zelda and Pikmin.
Also Space Station Tycoon, Endless Ocean, harvest Moon heroes, Blitz the league, a picmin for wii, Animal Crossing for Wii, Brawl, More Rail-Shooters for Wii (by Sega, who else), a sequel to Killer 7, a sequel to ikaruga, Nitrobike, that game based on CSI, Rygar, a sequel to Eternal Darkness, the new mario kart, a Star Fox game, an F-Zero, No More Heroes, Sadness, Nights, Wii Fit, Bomberman Land, Mushroom Men, Pinball Hall of Fame.
Uhm that's off the top of my head, if I put some thought into it, I could probably think of more, but I suppose that's enough.
