Since it first emerged earlier this month, Namco Bandai's Fragile ~ Farewell Moon Ruins has been a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Slowly but surely though, more on the tri-Crescendo-developed "ruin exploration RPG" is being revealed, and the past weekend saw a flurry of new media (such as the trailer above from the official site), all of which points to an RPG rich on atmosphere and suspense.
Famitsu also had a few tidbits of gameplay information. Apparently, protagonist Seto will be equipped with a flashlight, which players will be able to control by pointing the Wii Remote at the screen. A metal detector will also be available (again, this will be controlled using the Wiimote), as well as "other tools." There is also talk of demons appearing during combat, though sadly a rather impenetrable translation prevented us from learning more. Nevertheless, you can color us intrigued.
Head past the post break for a selection of screens, as taken from last week's magazine scans.

I must admit that it looks good. I am curious though as to how it will be an RPG. The video has just a moment of were some ghost like hands are reaching through a wall but that is all I see that could be an enemy. It does look like a game that I will follow to see what else is to come.

I'm not exactly thrilled with the graphical quality, but the atmospherics look excellent, and the whole post-apocalyptic scenario (while overdone) seems to really work here
But help me out here, is Seto a girl or another androgynous she-male?

Before I make my one criticism, this game measures really high on my DO WANT scale. Nevertheless, I hope that they put some serious work on the graphics. I know it's in development, and the environments themselves actually look really good, but the protagonist looks kinda robot-ish.

Okay, all you gaming blog/journalist people...it's almost 2008, have a japanese translator on staff. It makes sense since you guys pretty much post all their press releases/announcements on your english language websites anyway. It just makes you look more professional.

Another Japanese RPG with an androgynous main character? Excuse me for feeling uninterested.

Why are people focusing on the character? This game looks like it's all about exploring the environments, which do look great. It's from Japan, girly-men are a given. I'm hoping the gameplay is almost survival-horror style except more eerie and lonesome than straight up scary. Psyched, hope it comes to North America.
