The best advice I can give is call ahead first so you don't waste a trip (but don't expect Best Buy to ever answer their phone, they never do in my experience), and try to go during the day as opposed to the evening, when most other Wii-hunters are at work. Also, aim for Mondays when a lot of stores get restocked after the weekend. I was able to grab an unbundled Wii two weeks ago from Gamestop by doing that.
And a little prayer might not hurt now that's it's officially the Xmas shopping season...

Im wii'less.
But with the unavaliability, I have just resigned myself to waiting to Jan/Feb. Actually, im hoping to pick a package when wii fit comes out with the balance board.
Im content with waiting, because I just know that there is NO wii console in hertfordshire, so why bother worrying

Yea I know people that are looking: BASICALLY EVERYONE I KNOW THAT DOESN'T ALREADY HAVE ONE. Seriously, the Wii just has that 'it' factor, man. That Moxy. Can't explain it....

You can try wiitracker.com its usually pretty accurate.Wal Mart sucks because there doing nothing but bundling. Good luck we got our off Ebay during the summer I havn't seen one on the shelf all year. I think Nintendo is starving the market. Bottom line is Nintendo needs to sell games just as much as consoles.

I will share with everyone how I managed to pick mine up this time last year and this is also the same method that other family and friends have used and it works.
Make a list of all the stores in your area that carries the Wii.
Call each one and ask when their shipping days are and the time the trucks normally get there.
Be waiting at each of the stores on those days about an hour or two before the estimated time the truck shows up.
Also note that Best Buy and Walmart does not know when shipments are coming but at my local Best Buy it is normally on Friday or Saturday around noon or before. Walmart gets trucks Just about every day of the week but electronics normally come on Wed. or Thurs. but sometimes they don't put out the stock until the evening hours, that night, or the next morning. Also at my local Sears they don't put the stock of Wii's on the sales floor so you have to ask a person working in electronics for them and calling ahead does work at Sears and some employees do hold them for you (that is how my father in law got his).
I wish anyone hunting good luck and don't give up you will get yours in due time just don't give up.

I bought my Wii about 2 weeks ago on Toys R' us, they had a nice bundle where they allow you to choose the games you want, (including Mario Galaxy which you'd get the $25 Gift card back), also they'll make you get the warranty, which I got the lowest 15 months. I went back yesterday to get an extra wii remote with the $25 gift card and a 15% discount coupon that I got online, (the remote came out to $11.56), and I saw people buying Wiis since they had them in stock (although I noticed they were not selling them in a bundle). This was not the same store that I bought my Wii. So the best advice is to get yourself a 15% coupon for TRU and look around the stores to see if they have it. You might get it and in a good price!

Believe it or not, the only person I know looking for one found the Wii on Black Friday. She wasn't even up early, getting to the store at 7am or so.
Good luck to those still in the hunt.

Speaking of sold out, does anyone know why Guitar Hero III (Wii version obviously) is off the shelves pretty much everywhere? Have they stopped production to fix the Dolby Pro Logic thing? Some people are even telling me that distributors are out of product and don't know when it'll be getting back in. Weird.

I can't find it either. And in my area, the PS3 version is sold out as well, just plentiful PS2 and 360 versions.
I got my Wii during the Summer.
Hope the rest of y'all have good luck finding one.

Do I know anyone?
Only one... and that's a person who hates to get something after his little brother got it already.... yep, my older brother. He'll never get one, but it's okay, he's a jerk. So... nothing lost really. :P
But... shoot, have any of you seen so many people leaving these stores with so many Wii's??? One person walked out with four of them!
Especially at Fry's.
First come, first serve.
Good luck to Wii-hunters!

I was Wii-less for just under a year. It wasn't until I could get one at work (a non-gaming store, no less) that I got it. I'm not revealing the store because nobody there can special order them.
Granted, it was bundled with a second remote and "Carnival Games" *shudder*, but I finally got it.

I have one that I am planning to sell on ebay or something. I got it at target months ago when they were doing inventory and had everything out on the floor. They had like 8. I held it until now to hope to turn a profit. I just hope not everyone quits trying to get it off of ebay.

I preordered mine last year and have it but while on holiday yesterday in Lady Lake, Fl the Target actually had some in stock. Saw an retired couple buy one right in front of me. Guess everyone should call the parents and grandparents who are retired in Florida to pick one up.

I am helping 2 people at the moment. I told them both back in september to go to the store and pick them up. Most of the stores here had them in stock for a least a day or 2. Now they are nowhere to be found. So if anyone knows of one in South Central Pennsylvania let me know.

My sister's employer is looking for one, he tried walking into TRU 2 weeks ago but was not able to get one, the TRU employee told him that they had 200(?) units and it was all gone that morning. I remember going to that same TRU a week ago half an hour after they opened to look for GH3, saw a couple (probably about 20 units) behind the counter but no sign of GH3, I'm still trying to look for GH3... =( Sidenote, I did see Wii Zapper yesterday at Best Buy, didn't get one.

Nintendo, and the government, should crack down on Ebay seller, most of which are price gouging consumers which is illegal. It's one thing to auction on ebay, but to flat out charge the high prices is another. I wonder if the people that are selling Wii on ebay got them fairly, or that someone put the Wiis aside for them, because it does look like a lot of people are selling muliple Wiis.

I am sure that they did get them fairly seeing as how most of the auctions have receipts attached to them. I myself just got 3 Wiis on Black Friday.. 2 to sell. Believe it or not it is completely legal to sell any product you wish for any amount of money you wish on Ebay as long as you find buyers.
To get mine I started waiting in line at 4:45am at the local mall and I ended up being the first one in line. My GF bought one, which is her bday present to me, and I bought one from Gamestop and another from FYE across the aisle.

You know, a funny thing has happened with the Wii. It's rare enough that not everyone who wants one can get it, but it's popular enough so that pretty much everyone knows someone who has it and will let them play it. Because of this, the few friends who shared in my Wii obsession from the beginning and haven't managed to get their own Wiis have since decided to go ahead and buy a 360 for PS3 instead. As sad as I am that they won't be joining me in wonderful Wii ownership, we can at least get together and have a crazy good next-gen party.
Good luck to all the persistent searchers! Although, I don't think it's too much of a waste to go the way of the bundle (which is how I got my Wii). The time and effort saved was worth it for me.
