Sales for the week of Thanksgiving were ridiculous for Nintendo, as the U.S. saw an incredible 350,000 Wii units hit retail shelves and get eagerly snatched up by consumers just as quickly. As if that wasn't impressive enough, word is that the Wii sold 300,000 units the week prior, meaning that in a two week span, the Wii sold a ridiculous 650,000 units.
If these sales hold up for the last week of November, the console could very well sell near a million in November alone. Ridiculous just doesn't begin to explain it!

I have a thought...maybe Nintendo is ramping up production as quickly as possible because they're scrambling.
Not scrambling to create more of the current console, but working on their next iteration of the Wii console. They know this machine isn't going to last much more than four more years, and that's being generous.
They have to have a strategy in line to marry the success of the Wii and the DS. The new channel released in Japan, which delivers DS demos from the Wii, is a small step in the right direction.
In order to engage the populous even more, they must mesh the two together, so that the thought of having one without the other is simply not logical.

I agree with that. It seems very profitable to add well planned out Wii-DS connectivity and this is a good step. I have a DS lite and can't wait to do more with the two.

Adding more interconnectivity between the DS and the Wii would be huge.

There are four full weeks in November. If sales continue at the rate of 300k a week, that would be at least 1.2 million units sold.
I'm currently a bit confused about the actual number of Wii units sold so far in November. Some reports are saying that it sold 300k the first week and 350k the second week. Other reports are saying it sold 350k during Thanksgiving week, which is the THIRD week of November this year. So if both reports are correct, then the Wii has sold 300K + 350K + 350k = 1 million units already.
However, I suspect there is some misinformation somewhere. Can anyone clarify?
