We're pretty sure it's been mentioned several times on the site here, but playing Super Smash Bros. Melee has come down to us pretty much fighting on one stage: Hyrule. Now, it returns in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (along with the promise of other Melee stages returning, as well). Also, it's now called The Temple, so no longer will we be labeling it Hyrule. Oh, you can't believe how giddy we are, as we giggle maniacally at the inclusion of our favorite stage into the new game.
Is anyone else with us on this one?

Yeah but with the new stage editer a final destination stage would be easy to make
Also, it says that it isn't a perfect copy, that there are some differences. They must be pretty subtle as I can't see the difference

yeah, i enjoyed duking it out with no weapons, one-on-one on the Final Destination Stage. Test of skilllll! ;)
but if not that, Hyrule would of been the choice!

Yes, this was my crew's favorite Melee stage, too. Good to see it's returning.

I hated both Hyrule Temple and Final Destination.
The first was too big to get any actual fighting done. Because there's always someone who wants to run away and have you chase them.
The second is just a dull and uninteresting stage.

We played this stage far too much.
It was our main stage and also become our "Dueling" stage. Should the fight get too hectic, you could run to the "Mole Hole" (that area in the lower left part of the screen) and stay there since it was nearly impossible to smash someone off of it until they had like 300%....

My favorite is easily the Starfox stage from the original SSB and then returned in SSBM, so I'm pretty confident it will be here, too. I also really enjoy the pokemon float level... not sure if that will reappear though.. It would be nice, Nintendo. :)

I think I've been hanging out with tournament players too long, because my first thought was "This is so getting banned..."
Not that I don't mind big stages.

this would definitely be a casual stage =)
do you tourney a lot? i once met KOREAN-DJ on the train (ranked somewhere in top 5?). it was the randomest thing but cool to talk to a professional melee tournament player.

thats all well and good... but i'd rather see more large complex ORIGINAL stages...
they've announced like 15 new stages... but they're all pretty much the same small "final destination" type stages with different backgrounds.

Definitely my favorite stage. I was ecstatic when I saw the update. It's nice to see that they're bringing back GOOD levels from the previous game, unlike in Melee. What was the deal with bringing back levels that were nearly identical to the ones that returned from the N64? Plus: those levels weren't even good in the first place. I always wished they'd brought back Hyrule Castle from the N64.
Hmm... both of my favorite levels were Hyrule.

Eh, I'm more in favor of New Pork City, which I thought was going to be the spiritual successor to this stage. Hyrule (sorry, TEMPLE) is fun, but we played that level to death in the first three years of owning Melee. We kind of got sick of it. It's definitely not a bad stage, I'm just not pumped about it.

I just want them to bring them all back, though that seems like it won't happen. Maybe make the rest available through the Wii Shop Channel? Oh, and personally... I think you could've recreated at least the layout of this level, why not bring back levels that cannot be recreated (Mute City, Pokefloats, Rainbow Road, even Peach's Castle, anything that is more than just a laid out map). Moving levels and levels with extra obstacles are harder to recreate.
And personally, I rather disliked this level. Everybody seems to like to pick it a few times in one sitting, and I get sick of chasing people around.

On the contrary. YOU have no idea how happy I am about it. NO idea. Clueless. Absolutely...
If you haven't figured it out by now, Hyrule is the ONLY stage for me. I was a late adopter of Melee (didn't own GameCube, just Wii) so picking up the already practiced moving stages and other environmental complications was pretty much impossible for me. I cannot wait.

This is great to see this level make a return now I just want to see the Level from the N64 version make a return and that level was the one with the pipes. It was a level that looked like it came out of the Super Mario Bros world and you could only unlock it after playing the game for some time. It was not in Melee so I am not sure if it will be in this version or not but I hope so.

i'm a veteran player, having played the first super smash on N64, but i also love temple to death. the moving stages add too many random variables and i love to play with lower-tier, slow characters that have trouble keeping up. this level is just aesthetically the most pleasing, on par with fountain of dreams and onett.

I'm actually really pissed that Melee stages are coming back.
Temple was good and the best stage in the last game, but that was just it. It was the only good stage to have a lot of fighting on. The stages in Melee a lot of times I found inconvenient, and just really bad. Besides Final Destination, Temple was the only stage that you would go out of your way to play on. The rest just had no spark. And that's also where the N64 Smash Bros. had its strength. That game had some good levels.
Every stage in Brawl so far looked innovative, bright, and fun to play on. Stage builder would only add to the awesomeness, but now that Melee stages are coming back, it turned it down a knotch. I'm not pumped for it, I'm sorry.

I disagree. I am excited about this because it will give a lot of players who are familiar with Melee familiar ground to cut their teeth on when Brawl comes out--could be useful when getting used to new characters and/or control schemes. There is also an implication that some changes have been made to some of the old stages, which means that the old is being given a face-lift by the current team who are making everything else so fresh and new. It also sounds a bit like we'll be getting two games in one: as if Melee is part of Brawl

Oh boy. The return of the stage that people who suck at Melee play.
Maybe I'm too into the tournament scene, but my first thoughts - this is definitely not going to be a tournament-legal stage for the same reasons it wasn't in Melee.
Add to that, Temple was never that fun to begin with. Too big, and people will just hide in the pit and continuously tech off of the wall that they'll inevitably hit down there. No one ever dies.
I just hope the stage builder is a lot more flexible than it looks. Everything in it so far looks far too blocky and nasty. Let's hope we can make some decent stages with it.

Unfortunately for all of you elitist naysayers, alot of people who've never played any of the Smash Bros games are going to be playing this one. And like it or not, Hyrule is a great stage for casual brawling or practicing. I personally have many beloved memories of the stage, and am extremely happy to see its return.

TO ALL-NAYSAYERS: You know... you could just NOT pick the stage, right? ...duh. So don't complain. :P
I'm glad that all the old Melee stages are coming back, the more stages, the better. I hope some N64 ones appear as well (one of the many who hope that)... it's always nice to stretch out the new characters' legs in an old stage and see what mayhem we can make of it.
If anymore innovation is needed, just make a new stage, simple as that.
