Sorry, it took us longer than we wanted to get this up and out onto the net. Video complications meant I had to film my escapades on the Virtual Console twice. Have no fear, though. I still managed to get the thing done today and play the releases for you. Late is better than never, right? Right?

Cybernator (SNES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it!
If you like shooting the crap out of everything you see in a walking tank, Cybernator is for you. It's varied in its pace of slow and fast gameplay segments and is a pretty fun and action-packed 16-bit title. For 800 Wii Points, it's been a pretty fun ride for myself. If you enjoy the destruction, give it a whirl.

Alien Storm (Sega Genesis, 1 - 2 players, 800 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it (for the multiplayer)
This game is a lot like Golden Axe, but the actual fighting isn't as sound. The button-mashing combat segments are broken up by other bits, however, like the first-person shooting segments, adding some depth to the title. So, where the combat fails when compared to other, better 2D fighters like Streets of Rage and, as said, Golden Axe, its overall package makes it very appealing from a multiplayer point of view. If you're going to play it yourself, you can probably be fine ditching it.

Monster Lair (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 -2 players, 800 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it!
Monster Lair is an awesome shooter-platformer hybrid of a game. It's an entry in the Wonder Boy series of games and is a lot more fun than the others available on the Virtual Console right now, to me at least. The action is fast-paced and fun, and the graphics are great (love those sprites). It's an overall appealing package, providing myself with lots of fun for minimal bucks (although it would've been nice if it was 600 Points, we're not complaining).
That concludes our look at this week's Virtual Console games. As always, if you have any tips or rumors regarding Nintendo's Virtual Console service, be sure to let us know and come back next week when we take a look at the latest titles available on the Nintendo Wii.

As to the cut in video in the boss fight at Alien Storm, it was taking a bit so I cut it out to be under 10 minutes. You didn't miss much. :/

I've played Cybernator through a rom on my computer. It was dope then and it looks dope now. Maybe I'll pick up Monster Lair for my buddy who is really into side-scrollers. He deserves a gift.

Monster Lair looks like a lot of fun. It might be my first VC purchase in a while. Good reviews and video this week.

A 3 download week, not bad, not bad at all.
The characters in Alien Storm are pretty goofy, that boss in the video looks exactly like the characters in South Park episode "Cancelled".

I know I can't be alone in thinking that Cybernator looks a hell of a lot like Metal Warriors. The Wiki page says the two games aren't related, besides being published by Konami, but that mech moves almost exactly like the Havoc in MW.

Hell ya! I went through the first 45 minutes blowing crap up without dying.
Don't forget that the next time you play the game, DON'T shoot anything in the first level, just dash right on through to the end of the level (you can dash past enemies and turrets). Then and only then shoot the boss and not the two turrets that come down.
If you do that, you will get the napalm weapon which is the most powerful weapon in the game.

!!!
Cybernator looks exactly the same game has Metal Warrior on SNES. Give it a try, multiplayer is awesom.

Cybernator is like an unofficial sequel to Target Earth on the Genesis, I used to love that game when I had it as a kid

Correction, figured I'd do a wikipedia search to check if I was right or not...turns out it is not an unofficial sequel...it IS a sequel to Target Earth, so yeah, I'll be buying this one.
