According to the sales data from Chart-Track (your friendly neighborhood UK chart compiler), the Wii's total hardware sales surpassed those of the Xbox 360 in the land of Great Britain. Wait, the Xbox 360 was on the market for an entire year before the Wii, you say? It ain't no thang. Nothing can keep that little white console down.Chart-Track declined to release the total sales numbers of each console, due to corporate policy. The charts did reveal, however, that 100,000 Wii units were sold in the UK last week. That may not be enough to meet demand, but still shows that Nintendo is supplying a good amount of consoles to the region.

Well I'd say the UK is quite a bit more than a "region", hmmm?

I would say it's a bit less than a "region." Being part of the region known as Europe.

Yea...regions are large...Asia is a region...so the UK would be quite a bit smaller then a region :)

To my understanding, a region can be any section of any land. The US is divided into regions. In fact, some states in the US, like Texas, are divided into several regions. idk, a region can be whatever you want.

The word "region" has a very broad definition, so the UK can count as a region. Europe can also count as a region, and that's an entire continent, or I can be talking about something as small as a region in the state of Connecticut.

I'd call Asia a continent. And maybe "North East England" a region. UK being a lil' group of countries.
And Candace, you're right, it is a very general term, thus allowing either of us being completely accurate.

I'm so sick of seeing these comparisons...There really isn't a competition between the Wii and 360...most people who buy the Wii either aren't in the target demographic of the 360 or already own a 360.
As I see it, there's the Wii kinda off by itself blowing away all expectations and the PS3 and 360 are duking it out.
Now having said that, congratulations on the great sales Nintendo

I love all the non Wii Fanboys touting how "oh the Wii's only selling because people already own another console and they want a second system"...what do u need an excuse as to why you're wanting to buy the Wii? "Oh...oh, but it's just my secondary system!" Yea well thanks for adding to the install base buddy, I'll thank YOU when Capcom chooses to bring RE5 to Wii cuz they simply cannot pass up that many potential buyers.

Fittingly ironic piece of news to appear the same day Take Two publicly rubbishes the Wii.
Though I can't say I would have bought GTA4 (or any GTA) for the Wii anyway, just like I haven't bought Godfather or Scarface or Manhunt or any game where the player's character is in camo.

Wow Good for Nintendo!
Personally I can see the Wii selling well at $250 dollars its the cheapest game system. Yes its fun and cool. I hate how people bash on the Xbox. I have both and each game machine focuses on different audiences.
The Wii is a family oriented game machine.
Personally I am shocked at PS3 and really how Sony has lost the luster. There networking is not very good, the cell processor didn't turn out to be the end all be all, and it is just bloody hell expensive.
Reason I bought an XBox:
Not for the games but I use as a Set Top Box. I like the fact I can stream My music and Video via Media Center. Most people don't use there Xbox for that but I think that is one of the coolest features. Also online Gaming is good too.
The Wii is about playing Games and having fun. It is what it is.
But with that said the Xbox hardly sucks. Infact I use it more than the Wii, do I like it more than the Wii? Well no.. I use them for different reasons. And for different Games.
