Perhaps "cooler" isn't the best word to use, since comics tend to be associated with, well, nerdy lifestyles. Fortunately, though, this is a video games blog, meaning that we completely eat up geek culture like it's delicious candy. The folks over at Grasshopper Manufacture seem to understand this, and have therefore decided to incorporate a comic book motif into the No More Heroes instruction manual.
We can only hope that Ubisoft decides to use this style as well, but in case they don't, check out some pictures provided by Siliconera's Spencer Yip after the break.

On the cover? That's Destroyman, who attacks with a variety of beams, electricity, etc. He's not difficult to defeat. (One of the assassins ranked lower than him kicked my ass severly many times.)
I'm currently getting my ass kicked (repeatedly) by Holly Summers.

That's awesome.
...but it really makes me wish they'd gone with that comic book style shading and such for the actual game's art style.
Hey, if they can make cell-shading look flawless, I'm sure they can do comic book shading, too.

Cel shading is pretty easy to do,its build right into most 3D programs. comic book shading- takes a bit more tweaking. I sure as heck couldnt figure out how to do it, i guess you'd need a plugin written for you.
I would render all of my 3d as comic-book shaded if it were as easy as applying a filter :(

Although I'm not sure I'll get NMH, the manual is some slick stuff. Nice job.

This game intrigues me greatly.
For one thing,I love HACKING SLASHING VIDYA GAEMS.
For another, the idea of being a murderer-otaku-dude with a lazer sword-guy is probably the awesomest thing I've ever heard.
