Jump Festa Brawl impressions: 'Thrilled! ... is not.'
Bloggers from the Japanese site wii-ds.com attended the Jump Festa anime/game show at Tokyo' Makuhari Messe convention center (also the site of the Tokyo Game Show) and made a beeline for Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl demo booth. Nintendo had free play available, and also a tournament-style competition. Players could use the Wiimote or the Classic Controller.
Initially, the wii-ds.com fellows were nonplussed by the experience, finding the controls confusing and the lack of playable Lucas disappointing. Later, they went back and played it again, and it clicked. (Because they discovered how to customize the controls, mostly). They also were able to face Lucas, and were disappointed again by the apparently non-Japanese voice actor used.
Shockingly, they really enjoyed playing Brawl with the Wiimote, saying (in obvious autotrans-ese) "Surprisingly, the controller make it simpler and easier classic! And finally smap bra that was able to feel the texture."
Really, the main reason to read this is the consistent translation of Smash Bros. as "bra smap." That is hilari-tastic.

Maybe that's another feature that hasn't been announced yet. Snap the bras of the female characters.
I know I'm psyched.

Wait... so the Jump Festa demo allowed you to customize the controller but the E for All demo didn't? Apparently, they also were able to face Lucas in that demo while we were stuck without him... Well, at least they're getting somewhere in these demos.
I actually also liked using the Wiimote better than the Classic Controller during E for All... But I'm sure I'll prefer the Gamecube controller over the other controller options, and so will most smash players.

Hmm... I wouldn't necessarily assume that just yet. Out of the huge number of smash players I know, a vast majority of them like the classic controller, mainly because its analog placement resembles most game systems more accurately. Of course, most of them, like me, have also bought one of the shells for the classic controller so that it can have handles. I think there will be a pretty even split between classic and gamecube controllers, the wii remote will be gimicky and people will try it at first but soon grow bored, and the nunchuk? Um, I dunno, people who just want more use with their nunchuk...

I'll probably use Wiimote n' Nunchuk for single-player brawling
It has the spam smash attached to nunchuk waggle, and allows you to sprawl n' play

I think the Classic Controller will be all right for Smash. I love using it for 2-D games, but 3-D ones don't fare as well. In the end I'll probably just stick with my GameCube controller though, so no big deal either way.

I'll probably be using Wiimote Only.
Taunts will be: "PWND BY WIIMOTE", "Wiimote Skillz".
Though, with only one Taunt Button..... Will it just cycle the 4 taunts when pressing A?

How about:
Tount 1: tount-button
Tount 2: up + tount-button
Tount 3: down + tount-button
Tount 4: left/right + tount-button
Wow, that was hard.

I'm probably use the remote+nunchuck because I like that controller design. I don't have a reason to buy a classic controller. I rock with GC controller on Melee, but I want a fresh style of gameplay. I definately will not use just the wiimote.
I'm glad that there are enough buttons that you don't have to tap up on the analog stick to jump; I prefer to press a button for that.
