Today, a small piece of our childhood will be relived through the release of Blades of Steel. When compared to another popular NES hockey game from Nintendo, Blades of Steel might not be all too great, but it certainly took up more of this blogger's time than the other title back in the day. Rare platform lovers will also be happy to hear that Donkey Kong Country 3 also hits today. So, if you celebrate Christmas, then consider this a present from Nintendo. One that you have to pay for yourself.
This week's Virtual Console releases include:
- Blades of Steel (NES, 1 - 2 players, 500 Wii Points)
- Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (SNES, 1 - 2 players, 800 Wii Points)
- Rolling Thunder 2 (Genesis, 1 - 2 players, 800 Wii Points)

YES!!!!!!! Finally!!! I've been waiting for long for one of the games I grew up with to come out on VC again!!! DKC3 is a must download for me! Of course, I used the last of my Wii points on gifts and Shining Force for myself (which I never played before but am loving). I am fairly certain I'll be getting a points card for Christmas though. ^^

You might think that Nintendo aren't releasing NEOGEO games because they are afraid that the Wii memory will fill up faster.

I'd check out Rolling Thunder 2! Well, I'll wait and see David's video review first, but I loved the original arcade game.
Happy Holidays David! Thanks for doing what you do! Keep up the great work in 2008 and I'll be sure to come along for the ride! You rock!

You should love it. Somehow, it loses some of the classic feel the first two had... but it is nonetheless the last of the DKC games, and thusly, does have the DKC charm, just felt a little more modernized as opposed to DKC's natural theme and DKC2's darker outlook. And it's colorful and bouncy. Still, it had the most content in my opinion, this should keep you occupied for a bit. :)

DKC3 is the weakest of the three. Something was just... missing.
