Hey, if an HDTV is CATV-HRC compatible, does that mean it doesn't need a set-top box for the 09 switchover?

no HDTVs will need a set top box, provided they have a tuner. They are all digital.

Some HDTVs need a digital set-top box. I bought an excellent LG TV this year and the person serving me wanted to know if I wanted a TV with a digital tuner, but already knew which one I wanted.
There's noting good on digital anyway. The only HD channel you can get here is ABC. Southern Cross is still outputting in 576i >_>
