The Wii did well last week in Japan, finally managing to outsell the PlayStation 3 again by five to one. Wii Fit, Super Mario Galaxy, and Mario and Sonic continued to find success in the software sales charts, while Wii Sports and Wii Play extend their quests toward spectacularly high numbers. We're glad to see that Super Mario Galaxy is doing well (the game is great, in case you haven't noticed), and are still awed by the phenomenon that is Wii Sports. Only one game in the top ten (and top fifteen, for that matter) was for a non-Nintendo system, which exemplifies the company's current dominance in Japan. Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon is mysteriously missing from the charts, however, leading some to speculate that the game sold less than FIFA 360 (which took the last place with 2,400 copies sold).
Check after the break to see the sales numbers for Japan's hardware and software.

Wow... WiiFit has already passed up Super Mario Galaxy.
I guess we shouldn't be too surprised... look how well WiiSports is still selling over there.

You're reffering to weekly sales, right? Otherwise 'already passed up' wouldn't really apply...
Also: it's becoming more and more evident that Japan is going the route of the handheld and getting closer and closer to only casual gaming. Look at all the casual games compared to the non-casual ones (barring SquareEnix games, which Japan has a fetish for).
One more also: why in the HELL is MarioKart DS still up there?

Sensai,
No, I was referring to total sales. Isn't that what the second number is stating?
3. Wii Fit (Wii) --- 210,000 (737,000)
4. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) --- 109,000 (680,000)

Yeah, Nintendo actually do know what they are doing. At least SMG is picking up steam in Nippon where it was conceived. This one will be selling like Mario Kart DS in just two years. Which is to say 'in your face' to those people who don't understand that to be number 25 in the charts for two and a half years is INFINITELY better than being number one for four days. Nintendo seem to be doing it like masters and being number one for weeks AND staying in the charts for years. This translates into cash for them, and I must say I think they deserve it. Wii Fit has indeed far surpassed Mario, which it did like it's second week. What is interesting is that Mario is picking up steam to compete. And is anyone else impressed that Mario & Sonic there has sold 1/3 of its lifetime sales in the last week ALONE? How many months has it been out? Three? That is what legs are all about. Anyway, enough of my ramble. NIN-TEN-DO!

So Wii Fit outsells Mario Galaxy. There really is no justice....
Was this what was meant by "revolution"?
