To those of us reared on playing Winning Eleven games with d-pads and/or analog sticks, the Wii version of Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 has the potential to be a slightly unsettling experience. As the video above shows, pointing your cursor to pass actually looks very natural and fluid, but we're also hoping this doesn't make Winning Eleven on the Wii too simplistic. The series has long been defined by the subtlety of its gameplay, and while greater immediacy would potentially draw in new fans, learning how to master each new game in the series is one of its biggest attractions.
We're remaining positive though, if only because series creator Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka has repeatedly demonstrated that he knows more than most people about producing superb soccer games. Here's hoping he nails this one.

Looks great, fluid, good lighting, realistically-paced
The only thing that looks bad are the goalie animations, seemed to herky-jerky

I think this can only mean good things for the genre. Soccer games were really in need of a more straightforward player control system.
Besides, I'm sure there will be people who can pull off some really nifty strategies with this new control scheme, so pros will also give it a try.

The Wii needs a good football game and hopefully this is it as i really did not like FIFA08 the controls were uh....
For me to buy this they need to:
Add in a GC/Classic support....just incase...
Downscale the 360/PS3 graphics rather port a ps2 game.
Online play.

Apart from penalty kicks, this looks a little complicated: I'll pass.

Looks great, but seems like they'll have some trouble with the cooperative mode, and also, pointing were to shoot the on a penalty kick, seems a little unfair when facing a friend, cuz on all the soccer games that i have played, on a penalty one player does the shoot and the other control the goalkeeper, and also, takes away the possibility (as on what the video showed) of pressing to much the button and hit the ball so hard that goes over or the contrary, not pressing hard and doing a pretty easy kick
Still, 'll be getting a copy of this game, xD
