Today is a big day for the Virtual Console here at Wii Fanboy as
Star Tropics makes itself available for download later on today. It's a title that one of our own has been looking forward to for quite some time. And, the title backing it up isn't so bad, as it's the first entry in the long-running
King of Fighters series,
King of Fighters '94.
This week's titles are:.
- Star Tropics (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)
- The King of Fighters '94 (NeoGeo, 1 - 2 players, 900 Wii Points)
Be sure to stop back later for our video wrap-up of the day's offerings.

What about the whole letter thing? How does VC deal with that?

Already have the VC of StarTropics. The letter itself is in the games virtual manual you can access by hitting the home button while playing. In the 'game story' section, the word letter is highlighted in blue like an internet link. Click it, and you can read the original letter packed with the game, as well as see a little icon animation of the letter being dunked in water, and the code appearing.

Were you able to use lanterns or rods in the ghost level? Mine seems bugged.

Holy crap, this is probably going to be my first VC purchase! Back in college, I played the hell out of all the old Nintendo consoles (up through N64, I think) on emulators, and pretty much caught up on almost all the quality titles I missed when I owned the physical systems.
StarTropics and Blaster Master are the only two I can think of (off the top of my head) that I should have played but neglected. There have been plenty of VC gems in the past year, but they've (almost) all been something I played the life out of on PC, PocketPC, or PSP emulators. I'm probably going to buy this when I get home today.
Good work, Nintendo!

Does anyone know if they will ever release a VC version of Kung-Fu for the NES? Is there someplace we can make suggestions for future releases?
