In the most recent simExchange report, analyst Jesse Divnich had some interesting predictions about Wii software sales. According to Divinich, the top selling games will be as follows (including estimated worldwide sales for the software during the Wii's lifetime):
- Wii Play – 20 million
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl – 13.95 million
- Mario Kart – 13.16 million
- Super Mario Galaxy – 12.61 million
- Wii Fit – 8.73 million
We're not surprised that Divinich would predict
Wii Play to be the top selling piece of Wii software, since the game is constantly popping up in the top of the
NPD and
Japanese charts. Since two of the five predicted games aren't even out yet, and one of them is only out in Japan, it's hard to tell by
trends if the rest are good choices. Still, taking our best "we're not paid analysts" guesses, we'd say that
Wii Fit will have much higher sales than Divinich predicted. The game
already sold one million copies in Japan, and it's only been out for a month. We do think that those are a solid top five, though, even if we don't agree on the order and total sales for all games.
How about you? What are your best guesses for the Wii's top five?

There's your top 5.

Er yeah... I gotta' agree with gorecki...
These "analysts" really don't see things from a realistic point of view, do they?
Wii Fit is going to dominate more in the United States than it would ever had in Japan.
The amount of casual gamers here compared to them is going to demolish their charts.
Wii Fit is going to DOMINATE here in the US, whether hardcore gamers like it or not. And ESPECIALLY whether analysts like it or not.

I'm thinking Spore might be the third-party that could hit the top 5.

Well unlike Wiisports, Wiifit only has appeal for 30 and up which is a shaky at best market base.
Now Brawl has 30 and below crowd locked up. It will be great divide as older generations buy and young generations have better things to do.
overall it sounds right however.

... for some reason, I forgot Brawl was on that list.
Brawl will be 2nd then. WiiSports is #1 because I don't think the people will stop searching for Wiis any time soon. (It might finally end this year)
Brawl's lovability spreads like the others did. As many people went to their friend's house because they didn't bother getting a GameCube, it'll be the same for this one... and once again, this game will blow things outta' the water for these people, and they'll rush to buy a Wii like they did with the Cube (which will, again, put up WiiSports sales)...
However, WiiFit won't stay 3rd for long... it ain't just 30 and up. You forget to realize that there are a lot of 20-year-olds who feel 30 already... And you can't imagine how many health institutes will buy several Wiis (again, WiiSports sales will rise) (if they haven't bought a Wii already) just to get this game!
And don't underestimate the 30-and-up market is, these people are finally buying Wiis for themselves rather than for their children...
And if A LOT OF CHILDREN had introduced their Wiis to their parents (and they have... if another parent had shown them it already), you can already imagine that WiiFit sales will SKYROCKET...
Afterall, think of how many kids enjoy... let's say... Raving Rabbids or Super Mario Galaxy. You can almost say that all those kids have parents who are interested in the Wii, and almost be sure they'll be interested in WiiFit.
KIDS! DEFEND YOUR WIIS WHEN WIIFIT COMES!!! O_O
The 30-and-up is a big market. A HUGE market. And the Wii's success is mainly based on it. (Trust me, the sales doesn't grow just because people's grandkids want it) It'll definitely be a huge hit.

How can anyone really take this asshole seriously? With his 4 sigfig precision, all he can ever hope to be is a douchebag.
If SSBB sells within even 500,000 units of his exact prediction, I will eat my hat.

I would have to disagree with this. There's not way a mini game collection could outsell Galaxy and Brawl.

It's not so much the minigame collection that's doing the outselling. It's more the controller coupled with the cheap minigame.

I wouldn't think that Brawl or Mario Kart would get up that high
9, 10 million for those titles, tops

Don't speak too soon against brawl and mario kart. Melee and double dash both sold 6.6 million on the gamecube. For comparison, Galaxy has already sold 4.5million whereas mario sunshine sold 5.8 million in its entire life. So it's very possible that the games could do double their predecessors.

Joloto, all estimates are based on the mathematical formula of a prediction market (stock market) the best way for forecasting data.
Also, despite what most think, I don't get paid for these reports.
And be ready to eat your hat. SSBB is expectef to have a 15% market penetration. Are you saying that 1.5 out of 10 wii owners wont own SSBB? Wii Play being almost 1 in 5.

Also, the figures are predictions/expectations that come from a registered user base of 8,000+ gamers, investors, developers, retailers, and etc.

ohh it will happen, no doubt. But its an unfair advantage for Wii Play as it is bundle with an extra controller.
Personally, I think it should be classified as an accessory.
