Some super-blurry pictures of Japanese magazine CoroCoro seem to confirm that Zelda will be able to transform into Sheik via what's being called a "Twilight Change." No doubt this is exactly like her transformation before, but, you know, with the Twilight Princess version of Zelda. It should at least be moderately interesting to see what the edgier Twilight Princess Sheik will look like. Even if we hadn't heard from Aonuma that Sheik would show up, this shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone. Pictured above is the card on which this information was found, which also shows what appears to be Zelda's Final Smash move: Light Arrows.
Sadly, the CoroCoro issue also mentions that Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog will be unlockable "secret" characters, even though both characters were revealed on the Dojo and in trailers and everything. All this means is that we have to spend agonizing hours playing as not-Snake.
[Update: Reader Sensai brings news that the card actually doesn't specify a down-B move at all for Zelda, leaving Sheik, and the identity of that special move, unconfirmed. What a "mystery!"]

Lol. I hate playing as Not-Snake. His move set is terrible.

I'm glad they're not playable from the start. I want to beat the classic mode as DK and unlock Jiggly Puff...

It wouldn't make sense to me to announce a secret character in the game. Wouldn't they serve the purpose of a secret character best if their identity was kept secret? Rather than Sonic and Snake, I would expect to see a different secret character... maybe Megaman... maybe something/someone else.

in the case of Sonic and Snake, theyre high profile, since theyre not Nintendo characters, so for a publicity's sake it makes sense to have announced them early

Could this therefore mean the dojo is in fact revealing secret characters? If so, that really sucks...
For me, no real loss for Snake, I'm not a huge Metal Gear fan, but I at least wanted to try Sonic, though I doubt I'll stick with him.
Gonna mainly try Pit, Pokemon Trainer, and Olimar, and if I can't do decent with either, I will probably stick with Samus... or try Kirby, I dunno, I just want the game already!

DAMMIT. I, for one, wanted rid of Sheik. She was SO cheap in Melee. I can only hope that they've balanced her out a little.

Maybe they'll take a page from PT and give her a stamina bar. You know like she can only maintain the Sheik disguise for a certain amount of time before forcibly changing back.

On an completely unrelated note, props to you for having a Chrono Trigger screenname and icon. That game really needs to be remade, FFIV-style.
That aside, that picture of Zelda shooting light arrows is awesome, even in its blurriness. Not really surprised Sheik's back, as Smash has never been a game to rigidly stick to canon (in what Metroid did Samus have flamethrowers?).
Since they're third-party, I guess it makes since that they're unlockable. I'm honestly just glad they're in there. I still want to know who the third third-party character is, if there is one. Here's hoping Megaman really is in the game, and if he isn't then my hopes are on Sora.

How was Sheik cheap? She may have been fast and able to stun opponents easily, but she was easy to knock off. She EASILY flew!
In all honesty, that makes it a BIG weakness.
That's why you needed Zelda to even it out... Zelda wasn't that easy to knock away, but she had a harder time at attacking fast enough not to be dodged... Zelda was slow and powerful (slow as in steady), Sheik was fast able to stun.
In all honesty, that's not cheap, that's balanced.
If Sheik was cheap to you, then you never tried hitting IN FRONT OF HER... she could easily RUN INTO attacks due to her speed.

Really? I'll have to check up on that... but Samus had flamethrowers in the first Smash Bros. as well, which was before Prime. They still manage to tweak little things.

Thank you.
I'm tired of these people bringing up Sora... ...if you guys want another Ergheiz, go beg Sony and Square Enix... Nintendo's not going to do any favors for you.
Snake owes Nintendo for becoming famous on its console and encouraging it to the gaming fans, the most Nintendo owes Square is Chrono Trigger.
...as for me, Kingdom Hearts wasn't that great, it was just a giant fanfiction turned into a video game... blech.

I say Sora because he's perfectly tailored to a type of game such as this. He has different outfits, an established fighting style, elemental attacks for special moves, and many different options for his Final Smash. In addition, he's sufficiently different enough to offer something to the game.
About Chrono Trigger, I agree with you. It doesn't have to be remade, as it's already awesome. Still, I wish I could play it on my DS...

How unfortunate that you didn't realize ahead of time that the Kingdom Hearts story involves characters from an array of already established, mostly unrelated games, thus making it inherently "fanfiction-esque" (which is only a bad thing if you don't enjoy fanfiction). I'm sorry that the information and media surrounding the game didn't establish this clearly enough for you before you decided to play it. I spy hollow criticism.
In any case, I don't at all expect to see Sora, but it would be a nice surprise. More likely Roxas would appear being that he's the focus of the upcoming DS Kingdom Hearts game.

Er yeah, Fist Drark... duh. It's kinda' REALLY obvious that the game has almost every character as already placed story characters from other games.
The problem is the acting of the characters. Their script and acting are beyond that of an actual dramatization... and in that way, I say "fan fiction". That type of game horribly bothers me. I was expecting more emotion rather than script. And yeah, I don't enjoy fanfiction. But I think I made that obvious.

Er yeah, SoshiKitai... duh. That's kinda my point. Your conclusive, snide remark about Kingdom Hearts criticizes the game solely because you found it to be "just a giant fanfiction". Thus I call it "hollow criticism" because the smorgasboard of characters should make it extremely obvious to anyone intending upon playing it that it will be inherently 'fanfiction-esque'. So why would someone who doesn't enjoy fanfiction play such a game? And why would they later criticize the game for being a "giant fanfiction" as if they expected it to be something completely different?
But now that you've actually elaborated on some valid issues you might have had with the game, I can move on.

Oh and xeleion... no. No Chrono Trigger does not have to be remade.
It was fine on the PSX version, the added movie features were great.
The game itself was perfect.
Go oldschool.
