While we weren't looking (because THQ had delayed the game's release and hadn't sent out any more video or screens), Blue Tongue's de Blob went from being another kind-of novel Wii game to exactly what they delayed the game to make: an AAA experience. Just watch these videos (another is after the break) of hyper-stylized, hyperkinetic action-platforming and tell us that you don't want to go paint the town as an amorphous hero. (Don't, actually. We're sure some of you are total contrarians, and it would just make us sad).
IGN's preview of the game is full of the same yaaaay feelings we get from watching the videos. We just hope the game isn't really scheduled for a February release. Keep delaying it, THQ, just a little longer. It looks great, but February isn't the best month to release new Wii games that aren't about beating the crap out of Diddy Kong.

I played the original which was a lot of fun, but I never understood the giant blob-baby avatar they gave you. I like this new monstrous look. Here's hoping it's a heck of a lot less sandbox than their original game, and that there are additional goals to be met, and not just "paint everything, look out for the guys in black and hit these targets with this color".

The game _isn't_ really scheduled for a February release. The THQ website says it's coming out in Q2. (See http://www.thq.com/games/gameinfo.php?id=1290&upc=30134 )
I'll be buying it as soon as time and finances allow!

That's good.... it'd be a shame for a platformer that appears as novel as this one to be overshadowed by Brawl. And I say this as someone who'd like to have bought it next month, because while all the extra stuff in Brawl sounds neat and all, neither I nor the people I play the Wii with are into the main fighting gameplay at all.

Yaaaay!
It could use a better name, though.
