It seems that Baroque was always meant to be bullied by Nintendo's juggernaut, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Originally scheduled to release on February 26th (two weeks after Brawl's former February 10th date), Atlus has delayed the RPG until March 18th. As you may recall, Brawl is coming out on March 9th. Will that be a long enough gap for you to stray from your darling Nintendo fighter? The reason for the delay, according to Atlus, is that the company wants both the PS2 and Wii versions to come out at the same time. Assumedly, this means that the Wii version is holding the PS2 version up. Aside from "subtle" motion controls, the Wii version also supports 16:9 widescreen and progressive scan.
At least Atlus has a good sense of humor about the delay. From the email, the publisher states, "After we told Nintendo, they decided to move the launch of one of their lesser releases, some game called Smash Brawl, into the same month. We hope they know what they're doing."

Atlus really seems like a decent publisher. They put out the incredible Odin Sphere on the PS2 and Barouque seems to be shaping up very nicely. I really liked the fact that they joked about the release of Smash Bros. in their press release. Hopefully Baroque gets some traction adn doesn't get ignored in the wake of Smash. I would like to see Atlus do well.

Haha, Atlus USA always expresses a likable friendly disposition. The number of Atlus games I own are second only to those published by Nintendo.

Atlus is like the little company that could. They do these non-mainstream games that end up doing really well just because they are so fun. My first experience with them was Go! Go! Hypergrind on the GameCube - one of the most fun games I played on that system. Good luck on Baroque, Atlus. I'm looking forward to it.

I haven't purchased an Atlus game I didn't like. Golden Sun I and II, Lufia, to name a few.

Atlus must need to fix something, 'cause apparently it's "Baroque".

Baroque is on my maybe list for buying my first game after Smash (late April, around Arbor Day)
Of course, it's a maybe list it shares with Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword and Okami, so it doesn't have much of a chance

I'm chomping at the bit to get at Baroque but I doubt this one will be a big hit here as the whole concept of knocking your character back to level 1 every time they leave the tower and the fact that you lose all of your unstored items when killed.

I'll admit to looking forward to this more than SSB, but I've never really been into fighting games to start with. I enjoy the Lego games, but those aren't quite the same as a fight game.
Disappointed that it's delayed, but no big deal for me as $$ need to be freed up to buy it.

The only problem that has arisen due to this delay, for me, is that I can't ask for Baroque for my birthday as I was originally intending to. I still intend to get the game, it'll just cost me a bit. :P

I hope this gets a PAL release (haven't I heard that phrase before?!) sometime near the US release. It's always frustrating to hear everyone across the pond talk about something we don't even have a date for...
