Judging by its disappointing sales, very few of you went out and bought Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure when it hit stores lack October. Was it the god-awful title that turned you off? Or perhaps the Well, if it was in fact the $40, take note that Amazon has slightly marked down the price, temporarily listing Zack & Wiki for only $32.99 (free shipping). What more do you need to convince you into buying this critically-acclaimed adventure game?
[Update: Best Buy has the game on sale for $29.99! There's still the matter of shipping/handling, but you can probably still find the game at your nearest Best Buy location. Thanks, vidGuy!]

We just got Zack & Wiki in Europe and I've been playing all the time. This game is a great piece of entertainment. The graphics are awesome but unfortunately the style keeps most people from buying. This is NOT A KIDS GAME. The Art style is all cuddle-wuddle but the experience is really challenging. Everyone who played Monkey Island or the like should get this game immediately. I sooo hope Capcom does a sequel to this game.

I hate to agree, but I have to. I'm 25 years old and I was laughed at by some "oh so grown up" teenagers when I went to pick up my copy at the store. I used to believe that anime style graphics where accepted by now...
Well on topic: Be a rebel against Nintendo monotony and tell Capcom you want more good third party games by buying this gem of a game ;)

So America is getting it for $32.99, and meanwhile in the UK we are typically paying £32.99.
With current exchange rates, we are basically paying double. Pah.
OK its a new release here I guess, but still.

Why doesn't Capcom take a chance, drop the price to the magic $20 and see if sales pick up? I want to play the game, but I'd rather pay $50 on other games--GAMES I REALLY WANT! If this game was $20 it would be in my collection already!

Because they'll let it sit at the $40 price for a while before doing that. They'll get all of the sales they can before dropping it.

Well, to be honest I'm planning to rent this when I have more time. I got excited because this conjured up memories of Monkey Island and other puzzle/adventure games. However, the real reason I loved those games is because they were dialog- and humor-driven. I was disappointed to find out that there is very little in the way of dialog-driven story or humor, more like - puzzle in jungle - puzzle in ruins - cutscene - puzzle in jungle. Sure, I may have been expecting more from the game than I should have, but the lack of depth (other than gameplay) makes this a rental for me.
They do get credit for having a pirate, loli Franziska vonKarma.
PS: I fully, wholeheartedly suggest that people DO buy this game for their children), if only because I think we need to encourage kids to play more thinking games. If it gets too hard later on, at least they're trying to solve the puzzles and think critically.

I'd love to buy it, but my game backlog is already far too high right now to warrant the purchase. I still have to finish Dewey and Mario Galaxy (which I've already beat but there's more to do) and I haven't even begun to play NiGHTS. Plus I'm waiting for HoTD 2&3 and Smash Bros.
And that's only Wii. There's also DS and PS2 games I haven't touched.. and then classic consoles I've been catching up on..
I think I'll wait until this hits $20. If sales are as disappointing as you claim, that has to be coming.

I agree that everybody with an interest in puzzle games should get this, even if it's for kids. If you spend enough time with this game, *anybody* can beat it. You don't hear that much about it in discussions of the game, but there's a really robust hint system. You get money while you play (pretty much all the time), with which you can buy lives (allowing you to continue mid-level after you die -- pretty useless until the last few levels, since most of the first few can be completed in ~5 minutes once you know the solution) or hints. The hints can be redeemed at any time, and will give you first a vague, then a very specific instruction about the next thing you need to do. If you get *really really* stumped on a level, you can go back and play through earlier levels again to get a big pile of money, buy a dozen hints, and use them all to get through the level.
Or, of course, you could go to Gamefaqs, but that doesn't *teach* your kids anything. Well, except that the Internet knows everything.

Thank you, kind sir. Thank you for those gratuitous lulz.
Yeah, this game is... well, I can't say I'm as impressed with it as many other people here are, but it's solid. Maybe it's because I played only one pure adventure game, Myst, and that was when I was about seven or eight and I had NO idea how to solve any of the puzzles. So I don't exactly have a history with this type of game. So, from a first hand experience, if you're new to this genre you're probably not going to be amazed. But, as I play on, I'm more and more addicted. I've just gotten past the third, lava themed world, and I'm pretty hooked. SOME puzzles are a little frustrating, such as (minor puzzle spoiler ahead) a puzzle in the first "boss" stage in which you had to use the handle of an umbrella. I hadn't really known that you could flip an item to it's other end while you were holding it, so when I finally used a hint, I was a little frustrated. Other than small things like that, it's a great cerebral game.

I loudly concur with all these positive assessments of this awesome game - it's awesome!
And fwiw, Author X: I also generally insist on good story and dialogue in my games - Deus Ex was my favorite FPS by a wide margin for many years - but in this case I'm actually really hugely loving the way that in this game, the game and its developers are talking to you through the puzzles.
There's no dialogue that you have to pore over for hints on how to solve some arbitrary puzzle step. So far in the game (I'm three maps deep at this point) your only real assets and hopes are your own native creativity of thought, knack for physics, and real-world problem solving abilities.
It's extremely fun to figure out things in a world where the things that make sense _actually make sense_.
Anyhow, this considered reader highly recommends this game to anyone - adult or kid.
A+!

I'm not particularly blown away by the game. Got it on the 26th due to the buzz on these forums, I'm at the last level now, and haven't played in a week. I think the reason being, is that the answer to the puzzles are too linear.
Particularly interesting that you can sit with a few people and try and figure out things to do next, but I see very little replay value here. Zelda does a much better job in my opinion.
If it truly has that much interest, I'd certainly sell to someone for a twenty.

I just never got around to getting Zack & Wiki. You see, I don't buy games very often (to date only two of my Wii games weren't gifts), so there are plenty of great titles I miss out on. I hope to get it eventually. My problem is that I never plan going to games stores, and when I happen by one while doing something else, I very rarely have brought sufficient funds to buy a game. And with games like Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy, and Prime 3 (and the oft underrated BWii) floating around, I had to choose wisely with the few purchases and requests I did make.

Want it but I have so many things I want to buy and they all rank higher on my list. (Smash Bros, No more Heroes, Advanced Wars, Mario Kart, Wii Fit, Rock band if it ever comes out) so I really don't have money to buy it.

I'll be blunt. I am very skeptical of this game. I mean, maybe I'm mistaking its gameplay style, but it looks like a point and click. I've never liked those games. I'll give it a try, but it needs to be $20 for me to give it even a glance.

Yeah I bought this one the other day. I have way too many unfinished games around the house though. Elebits, Super Paper Mario, Mario Galaxy, Mercury Meltdown Revolution. I need to take a month off of work just to finish all of these awesome games! Not to mention No More Heroes comes out this week... ugh!

Anything that long and devoid of grammatical/punctuational distinctions is automatically classified in my brain as spam, meaningless irritating spam. Line breaks would've also been nice. But actually, I have the feeling it might just be moronic gibberish. Either way, we should all ignore it and move on with our lives.

Anyone who says this game is kiddie only played the first two levels. By the end of this game I was feeling like a complete idiot and racking up a massive death total. It's hard, it's unforgiving, and above all it is a remarkable achievement that deserves recognition and sequels.
I'm still stuck and had to put the game down for awhile. Mainly because I hate using oracles or gamefaqs.
