While we're not sure how big a slice of the Guitar Hero pie the Wii version has taken, the franchise has generated some serious revenue. In North America alone, the series of games has earned over $1 billion. In fact, the third title even did so well as to be the top title in 2007.
Other data regarding downloaded content is also provided. However, that doesn't really apply to us, as we've been waiting for downloadable content for some time now.

everyone is waiting for DLC. I bought this on the 360 because i wanted the DLC.....so far they have about 15 songs to download, 3 are boss songs which should have been included anyway, 3 are foreign, one is the theme to halo and the rest is foo fighters and velvet revolver. LAME! Rock Band definitely has their shit together in comparison.

GH3 is definitely a super fun game to play on the Wii, but I think Activision should get their crap together, and maybe even should've released the Wii version a la Super Smash Brothers. I'd much rather have a delay than a game that apparently went through ZERO Quality Control.
I'd also like to point out that some douche bag over at Activision sent me [et al] an email stating information about the replacement program. Unfortunately, instead of masking the email addresses, they just put all of them in the "TO" field...giving my address to 100+ other customers. Data Privacy anyone? I've deleted quite a few of the "Reply All" emails....
All this to say that making a billion dollars is a big deal? Who gives a flyin' crap when there are thousands of pissed off customers?
Oh well...game still rocks...and they got my money anyway :)

A guitar has taken me to the dark side.
Despite my enthusiasm for the Wii, once I got GH3 on the Wii, I had to have more. I bought a 360 this weekend (I hate Sony more than Microsoft) and rock band. In a game like this, it's the DLC that keeps in interesting.
Nintendo has to figure out this DLC thing.

I'd been waiting months to buy this game. People on craigslist, ebay, and amazon kept trying to scam other gamers for an additional $40, but I waited and it paid off. I bought it 3 days ago for retail and it was one of the BEST investments. It's a fun game!
