We've noticed a lot of cases on eBay lately. Oh, not cases for holding your system, or replacement cases for modding your Wii, but game cases for Wii Sports and Link's Crossbow Training. We were thinking about asking who might have made one for themselves, but then we noticed something else, something even more interesting:People are making a killing on eBay with Wii Sports. Just the DIY cases alone sell for a decent few bucks, but actual copies of Wii Sports, with or without a shiny plastic case, are going for crazy amounts of money, so we just had to ask: do you know anyone who's needed one? Who broke a copy, or picked up a used Wii, or lost it, or needed to replace Wii Sports for any reason?

Mine has got a case as well.
However, my original copy doesn't work anymore (it is not damaged, but still isn't recognized by the console - must be a production problem).
And since warranty is gone, there's nothing I can do with it.

Well, in Japan Wii Sport is not in bundle with the Wii.

Actually, I didn't know this, and had I known, I wouldn't have traded in my Wii sports for a lousy $7 store credit @ Gamestop. I can, however, make an unlimited supply of those cases (my girlfriend runs a Blockbuster, and most of the kids movies come in those white cases and have to be switched to black ones, so she can just bring all the white ones home for me), so maybe I'll get into ebay selling to make some cash after all.

Here's a link to the case cover that you can print, trim, and slide into the white cases:

This truly befuddles me. Why the hell would Wii Sports go for $20 or $30 when it is packed in with every damn system? I would think tons of (hardcore) gamers would be trying to get rid of their copies.

I was able to get Wii Sports from Nintendo for $21.20, including shipping.
It's making a killing because people don't bother to call Nintendo first. I called Customer Service, asked for a replacement Wii Sports CD, gave my CC info, and I got a replacement.

When I picked my Wii up last October, the shop had 4 used systems in that had inexplicably come in without Wii Sports. Why would you keep it if you've sold your Wii?
Those that bought the used systems are probably looking for one of the much sought-after Wii discs.
@amaron11: interesting, wouldn't have thought of calling Nintendo and asking for the disc. At least they're not charging $50 for it.

I bought a replacement case and printed out an insert for Wii Sports when I got it. I only just got a Zapper so I should probably do the same for LCT

Well that crappy case they pack it with scratched my disk like no tomorrow, its probably got a centimeter of peanut butter on it by now, I finally stuck a piece of cloth in there to stop the scratching. (It also doesn't help my sister rams it in there with no caution whatsoever...)

I did get a replacement WiiSports, my original had loading and lock-up errors from day 1. Nintendo took care of it quickly and without a fuss.
I also, as of last week, have made cases for both Crossbow Training and WiiSports. Happy to get out of the scratchy sleeves and makes the whole game collection look better. Incidentally, I didn't buy white DVD cases, I pilfered them them Disney DVDs, which almost always ship in White DVD cases.

My copy has become severly scratched, yet operational. I'm afraid at some point it will stop working and I'll be forced to find another way to get another copy.

I just keep my Wii Sports disc in the case of whatever game I'm playing at the time. (Super Mario Galaxy, right now)

thecoverproject.net + buying cases directly from Nintendo at a very low price = 5280 times more cost effective.

Our copy broke when an over-zealous child (friend's kid) tried a little too forcefully to put it in a case. I called up Nintendo, told them what happened, and they shipped me a new one for under $10 (USD).
Agreed, though; Nintendo really should make this readily available as a separate purchase.

I've sold a few Wii Sports on Ebay - noticed when searching for Wii games that a lot were selling - did a search and bought a few for around £5 - £8 and re-sold for over £30.00. I asked one buyer why they wanted it and they said bought second hand Wii without Sports.

I bought a second hand Wii about 6 months ago and it didn't have Wii sports with it....
Maybe it's not that people are keeping the game but that the shops can make more money selling them separate?
I mean i paid £179 for my Wii + 2 games if the game shop threw in Wii sport for free that's them -£££ but if they sell it separate that's them up like £15 or something....

This is awesome. I had torn my Link's Crossbow paper flap thing trying to get the tape off. I called Nintendo to get a new one, but they don't make the flap themselves. This is a great alternative.

My old roommate had his Wii Sports disc scratch and stop working (got the same scratching pattern on his Excite Truck game, looks like the Wii was doing it to them at some point - but he took crappy care of his stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if he got crumbs in his console that made it scratch his disc)
Anywho, he called nintendo and told them about it and it was about 20 bucks with shipping to get a replacement disc.
