Well, just a few days after we received word you could register online for your new Dolby Pro Logic II-enabled version of Guitar Hero III, we finally get confirmation as to when you can expect your disc to arrive. Our previous placeholder date of "early 2008" now becomes "next month," as Activision confirms.
Seeing as now we know just how much money the Guitar Hero name is worth, we wonder what kind of financial detriment this whole debacle has been for the company? How much money is Activision going to lose in shipping out these replacement discs to gamers?

The best part was the email Activision sent out, they emailed to everyone. And not as individual emails, or as BCC, but to everyone that signed up. So now I have gotten a few emails back with blind spamming of someones Wii code, and asking to be added as a friend, and even one of someone soft selling a site that gives away free Wii points.
Rock on Activision!

I'm picking up heavy loads of your sarcasm...
...and I couldn't support it more!
GH3 is definitely a super fun game to play on the Wii, but I think Activision should get their crap together, and maybe even should've released the Wii version a la Super Smash Brothers. I'd much rather have a delay than a game that apparently went through ZERO Quality Control.
I also am irritated at the douche bag over at Activision that sent me [et al] an email stating information about the replacement program.
Data Privacy anyone? I've deleted quite a few of the "Reply All" emails....
All this to say that making a billion dollars is a big deal? Who gives a flyin' crap when there are thousands of pissed off customers?
Oh well...game still rocks...and they got my money anyway...

me too, i am afraid if i get my disk lost in the mail, 90 bucks down the drain, and i can't use the guitar for any other game, and if it is lost, i have no proof i ever had it

The Activision page only allows for American or Canadian exchanges - what about Australians?

making a copy of the game costs next to nothing. for all the expenses in the game industry, pressing copies is one of the cheapest things you can do. probably costs more to ship it, and even then, that's not that much.
in the end, I doubt this will cost them more than 100k.

Is he high-fiving a lynx, or is that just a really wild looking cat?

I wondered if they pulled copies from shelves even. It took me months to find a copy (checked daily at my local EB as its in the mall I work in and they had never even seen a copy!). Ended up finally getting it at blockbuster just a week ago.

umm I've been hearing about their dumbass emailing system. Is there another way to get the disc?
P.S. Hey that's Andy from SNL in the pic!(I think) Lots of his skits (the SNL Digital Shorts) make no sense.

Still no word on the European replacements:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact us here at Activision.
We will be in touch with you once we have detailed information regarding the replacements."
Boo!

I have been waiting to get this after the replacement.....then lately, after my wife played the game and loved it...I thought I'd go ahead and get it and then just replace the disk...but now that is sounding like too much trouble.....send me a package...send them a disk....send me another disk.....with no complications?....so now I'm thinking that I'll again wait for the non-gimped disks to be in the store, but do we know when that will be and how they will be recognized? Anyone, if no one has found out yet, I'll try and contact activision and find out (then let the community know)....

I'm kind of annoyed at Activision as well. I wouldn't mind if it were some random e-mail address but the one I used is my school e-mail address...In other words, it has my full name and the school I go to. Way to share my private information like idiots, Activision. I guess when GH4 and Rock Band 2 come out, I'll be leaning toward Rock Band 2 this time...(even if it means I have to pick it up for PS3...)

This is a bogus program. We have to mail them our game BEFORE they will send us the new game. Activision sells us defective discs and now we have to mail them our old discs to them before they send us what we should have gotten in the first place. I play guitar hero almost everyday, and they are asking their customers to do without it for some undisclosed amount of time. When I bought the game it said on the back of the box that it supported Dolby. It did not. This is HUGE for an audio central game. Activision needs to face up and do this thing right... I don't want to pay for their mistakes.
