This could be a simple mixup with the DS version, or it could be something awesome. In IGN's writeup of the regrettable Shiren the Wanderer 3 delay, writer Anoop Gantayat made the following statement:
"... Shiren is set for US release under the name Shiren the Wanderer 3. As the U.S. version is currently with a TBA release date, expect the TBA to come post Summer."
This is actually the first we've heard of any North American release plans for the brand-new roguelike. With the DS Shiren 2 remake coming out in March, localization of further Shiren games seems like a definite possibility, but we haven't heard any announcements from Sega. We would be more than enthused about having a shot at the gorgeous new dungeon game. If we were to get Koppa here as well, even better.
IGN casually reveals U.S. plan for Shiren 3 release?

When I saw the headline at the bottom of Joystiq I thought it said Shenmue 3 because my cursor was covering the "iren" part.
But it didn't say Shenmue. *sigh*

Very cool. This article really does nothing for me, though.
I'm hoping that Shiren comes to the Wii here as well. Hopefully they will decide to bring it here because of meeting or exceeding sales for the DS game, or just because they want to. :P
If it's not here, no biggie since the DS version is probably enough, but actually bringing the series here to stay would be quite nice.

Enh, as I have played Shiren Asuka some on the PC, the spiritual successor to Shiren the Wanderer, I'd really love to see where they take the series in Shiren 3 (more monsters, dungeon themes, items, companion commands, etc.) BUT I sure as Hell hope they haven't gone all "Persistent Character Level" on us! Chunsoft already did in Torneko 3, MD: Pokemon, and even most recently in Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 3!
I was on the main webpage for this game and have see a few of the new tweaks they have in store:
-3 Character Party.
-Items can be "planted" to grow/transform into evolved forms.
-30 NEW creature types.
-30 different dungeons (if like Asuka Shiren, these can be totally different rules, monster, and item sets)
-Restricted areas where certain item classes can't be used (like no wands or no scrolls).
