Even though the actual release date for Super Smash Bros. Brawl continues to slip, we know that it will get here soon. Until then, we're perfectly content to watch a video like this and practice our sighs. With five minutes of gameplay in this video, we're able to get a lot of practice-losing in.
We already know that we have no chance against the legions of Smash-obsessed teens who will be online day and night, so we're going to try to be the best at being totally dejected about our losses. We plan to mix it up with a little bit of upbeat winner-congratulating, and maybe some angry tantrums, but as far as strategy goes, our bread and butter will be the good old sigh of resignation.

I'm hoping I'll be able to hold my own online. I do fairly well in Mario Strikers, except when I go up against people who use tricks and exploit the AI goalie. Hopefully Link won't be nerfed in Brawl. Then I'll be sitting pretty.
As an aside, are we gonna have a game night for Smash when it comes out?

I don't think I'll play often online, but then again, I dunno. I only have a few Wii games that have online play and I haven't really used it. I have a lot of DS ones that do and I rarely use that either. Of course, I usually am playing games with my fiancee, not alone in my room.

Sorry for double posting, but just wanted to say, these videos make me want the game more. I like the one on one matches more just because I can follow what's going on very easily. But in the four player matches, I mostly watches for items, final smashes, and stage related stuff. :)

i am so excited for this game. it is by far the most wanted game of '08 for me and that is saying something since im a PS3 owner too (which has a heap of great games coming this year). me and my friends have Smash Bros. parties all the time with Melee and this game is bringing so much more to the table than even that one did.
i normally use Kirby (because i like being able to fly) or Fox (because he is so fast) so i think im going to love Pit, Metaknight, and Sonic in this game. i mean i wont know for certain until i get my hands on the game but those characters will at least be the first ones i use when i get the game.

There are about 10 amazing games for trhe wii. Youi should check them all out!
They are:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess,
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption,
Super Paper Mario,
Super Mario Galaxy,
Battalion Wars 2,
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn,
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaro's Treasure,
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition,
No More Heroes,
and if its your style, Guitar Hero III.
And soon- Dragon Quest Swords: The Marked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Mario Kart.
The Wii's lineup is really strong, I don't know why people always complain about it. Me buying 11 Wii games in 1 year is alot for a system.

I'll do online play when i'm feeling lazy (or on Wiifanboy Game Nights), but home-brewed Me vs CPU tournaments (in which i participate in all the matches anyway) when i feel like taking the time to draw one up

Its hard to find a good match online. The other person is either so good that they make me want to throw my wiimote at something or is so bad they actually make the game boring. That's why I like playing with my friends. If they just made a more convenient system than "friend codes." I t would be easier to automatically play with your Wii friends and to have a buddy list that requires the other person's approval and nothing else.

See, THIS is why I love gameplay videos for upcoming games. Up until this very moment, I was ambivalent towards SSBB. I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the Super Nintendo. So I had no idea what this game was gonna be about. Now, after 5 minutes of watching the video, I understand. I have seen the light. I will own Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Oh yes, it shall be mine...
I had no idea how awesome the stages would look. The music, oh the music - the Zelda theme, the Solid Snake theme. The frenetic action of 4-player mode versus the calculated tactical fighting in 2-player. The game just looks incredibly awesome and now I can't wait to play it.
And that's all I have to say about that.
