When it comes to Guitar Hero III, we don't know what's worse -- not being able to hear the game in stereo and surround sound, or not being able to buy another guitar. Yes, the lack of Dolby Pro Logic II just downright sucks. But, we'd still be having a lot more fun with the game if we were able to rock out with our friends locally.
Activision has let us know when replacement discs for Guitar Hero will be available, but what about the guitars? All we've heard is "early 2008," which seems to be the company motto. Still, there is hope.
Toys "R" Us is now letting shoppers preorder the Les Paul online, listing the peripheral as having a February 26th release date. Since we have no official word from Activision, of course, this can't be taken too seriously. We do see it as a good sign, however, and will let you know as we hear more.

Would it blow up the Wii if Activision enabled USB guitar controller support?

I'm kind of hoping that Telecaster we saw a few weeks ago (I forget who made it) is the same price, or less than, the official Les Paul.
I've always been more of a Fender guy when it comes to solidbodies.

I already saw them in some stores here in germany. You've got to pay about € 70,- for it. Only € 20,- less than the full bundle.

Like bc said, until just the other day ToysRUs had a preorder ship date of Jan. 28 and prior to that had a date listed near the end of Dec. as well, so I am not holding my breath and do not consider this news.
Activision has really dropped the ball on GHIII for the Wii with the Dolby issue, the lack of guitars and still no downloadable content... I am really regretting not buying this for my roommates 360 =/

$60 is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS!
I will be waiting on a 3rd party Guitar for sure then.
So they are then saying that GHIII for the Wii is just a $30 game by itself then?
Thats about $29.99 toooo much then, I mean with the pitiful amount of QA work they did on the title...

While at an Gamestop in Maryland yesterday, I was told by the clerk that they will have the guitars available February 26th and that they would be $69.99. I had him repeat the price because I thought I might have heard him wrong. He repeated it and agreed that the $70 price tag for guitar alone is ridiculous.
He also was taking preorders for Mario Kart wii which he said comes out April 29th

I have found the Wii Guitar Hero Controller on Red Octanes Official Store. The first time i found it i did a google search on the site using google's toolbar. At the time you could reach the page by typing in "wiilp" after you reach Red Octanes homepage. Though all the page had was a picture, no price and a coming soon sign. Then sometime last week they update the page with a price of $59.99 and coming in march. now it seems that they have taken the page down. You can still see the price of the guitar on their site by looking at a cached version of the Red Octane Wii store that google cached on January 26. here is the link to that cache.

Yeah, not just the GameStops in Maryland but pretty much all over as well. Known about this since December or November, probably late November because of Black Friday. The price is more than just a bit much. I'd hope that for that price, an extra Wiimote is included cause wow that's a lot.

$60 is a ridiculous price to pay for an extra guitar! I wish they could just enable the USB guitars that I can go to bestbuy and get right now for $20!

I was extremely interested in getting this for the Wii, but between the audio problems, the lack of extra guitars, and the constant difficulty finding the box in stores, I've decided to give up on GH3 for a couple of months until they get their crap together.

Wow, one of the first game things to be availabe in NZ first.
I have been rocking 2 Gats since Xmas. They are NZ$100 here.
GH3 is lame with only one Gat, as it is not a party with only one person playing.
Playing Bulls on Parade before going to see Rage live was cool.

I just called Game Stop. They said release date of Feb 28, 08.
Also MSRP of $69.99.
Only $30 less than original game and guitar bundle. Such BS.
Getting tired of being ripped off.
