Upon its inception, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has been a title mostly about displaying the destructive power of the force and explaining the origins of Darth Vader's apprentice. Oh, and there has been the dream of every fanboy to wield the Wiimote as a lightsaber.
Now, it turns out there is more incentive for Wiimote-swinging wannabes as it's been revealed by Krome Studios' Ed Tucker that the title will have five exclusive levels on the Wii. "On the Wii we have places where the story veers off and we go and explore something, take the game in a different direction, like the Jedi Temple level," he explains.
Wii owners looking to lose control with the Force can look forward to that come this August when the title releases.

I have yet to see a single screenshot or video of actual lightsabre use. It seems this game is going to be nothing but throwing stormtroopers around.

I'd rather have a Star Wars shooter, a la Dark Forces, than a hack and slash. Sure the Wiimote would make a great lightsaber, but what are the odds it's going to executed right? I'm neutral on how the force stuff will play.
It's nice that they're thinking about exclusive content though.

I'm curious if 1:1 control is possible....

Whether it's possible or not (and it's not for this game), gamers wouldn't want it. All we need or want is the illusion of it, but if we had it, we wouldn't get past the first storm troopers unless they were blind and drunk. Wii Sports baseball gives some illusion, but it could be better. We want some directional control with the timing of a swing, but how much?

These aren't the Wiimote-swinging wannabes you're looking for...

I keep dreading that I'll buy this game, only to find all the beautiful screen shots I've seen are from the Xbox 360 version. :(

There's no doubt that the 360 and PS3 versions will be prettier and almost definitely the games we're seeing in the previews. But this update filled me with some hope that the developers are actually taking the Wii version seriously, and if that's true, I could see this game having a Final Fantasy XII or Twilight Princess level of polish. And that's really all I want.

they've released different screenshots for the wii version than the other versions. just look at the force lightning differences. I'd believe the wii can and will do what they show in it's screens

The Wii/ps2/psp are being made by the same devs and will basically be graphical ports of each other.
The only way they'll make the wii better than the ps360 version is to add AWESOME controls.
All the videos I've seen have been the 360 version and stormtroopers been thrown about & talk about all the engines they use in the game(for ps360).
Only question i have for this game is do i see it as a lazy port of a psp game that doesn't comes close to taking advantage of the Wiis graphical power or a game that is enhanced through the awesome controls(if they turn out to be good).....

I do not expect great things from five extra levels. That tells me: "Hey! When the graphics are from 2002, we have time to build five extra levels!"

The saddest part about this game is the fact that theres a PS2 version. That automatically dooms the Wii version, as 3rd party developers have so often shown us. There's no way financially feasable that Krome Studios will do a ground up Wii version AND a ground up PS2 version. They wouldn't do it for 360 vs. PS3 so why here?
Any time I see a Wii game with a simultanious PS2 release, I immediately lose interest, follow up on the review, which in turn reinforces my prejudged notion of a crappy port.

From an IGN aricle: "Much of what's been done on the Wii, at least in visuals and in gameplay, will be applied to the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable since Krome Studios is also handling the other "last generation" versions."
It seems clear from this statement and other items that the Wii is Krome's development focus. This was not the case with Spider-Man 3 or other miserable multiplatform games that played even worse on the Wii. The trail of bad Wii ports is pretty long, and assuming some sense of self preservation, what company would ignore that and ignore the growing customer base for the Wii?
That said, nothing is guaranteed. I just have to figure these supposedly smart folks will get it one day.

That is the hope. That the devs are doing the Wii version _first_ then working on the PS2 & PSP versions. That promises to maybe see some better things on the Wii than on the older Sony systems.
I am excited for this game to be coming to the Wii and I'm looking forward to seeing what Krome can do.
