If any of you have seen that film Children of Men, you probably noticed the horrible treatment this imaginary England of the future imposed on illegal immigrants. Well, it just might be the opposite here in reality, as word hits that deportees in detainment get some play time with Nintendo's latest console before being shipped off. These detainees are currently shacked up at Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre in Berkshire, where they enjoy a TV in every cell and some other amenities (we wonder if they're giving each other tats). This is, of course, questionable, as to whether these folk deserve such luxuries is obviously cause for debate. It's even being reported that some of the folks here are rapists and murderers.

This sounds like lies. Quote: "Some detainees have Nintendo Wiis. If the consoles go wrong staff are sent to the nearest Argos to pick up a replacement." Pah. Wiis have been constantly out of stock everywhere since launch and to this very day, so the idea that you can nip down to Argos and get one is ridiculous.
A couple of years ago Colnbrook was the scene of demonstrations and hunger strikes by the detainees in response to being attacked by staff. The people held in these prisons, sorry, detention centres, are rarely rapists and murderers, but mroe commonly failed asylum seekers who fear torture when being returned to their home land.

prisons being nice? yea, sounds like BS. there's no way being forced into a prison, removed from your family and friends, and sent back to a country you left for probably good reasons is 'fun'.

The original article is from The Daily Telegraph.
This newspaper is hostile to any group that is not Anglo-Saxon. When it comes to topics such as illegal immigration or ethnic minorities their credibility goes straight out of the window.
And as the previous poster said, the Wii has been sold out since launch. There would have been no way staff would have able to "go to the nearest Argos to pick up a replacement".
You can always tell a British newspaper story is bogus when the article is built around an unnamed "source". "Source" is just a code word for second or third hand information. This article seems like just a way to stir up the emotions of their misinformed, Conservative, middle-class readers. Those readers deserve better. Instead, it seems they're paying for lies.
A real shame.

Please don't be so conservative. Most of these folks, or at least lots, will deserve to stay in the UK but our right-wing socialist (yeah right) government think it's best to deport them for the sake of statistics.
