After last week, we thought Nintendo might be returning to form with Virtual Console releases, at least in Japan. We didn't get our hopes up, which is good, because we would be disappointed right now otherwise. Nintendo is continuing to do their best to make people forget about the Virtual Console, with another week light on releases. Not that many games for Japan means even fewer games making it out West. We don't even really care that the games aren't Goldeneye or Earthbound or whatever. We'd all be able to find something right for us if only Nintendo would give us a selection. At least nobody's going to have to clean out their refrigerators this week.To be fair, Dungeon Explorer II does look really great, and we wouldn't mind the opportunity to play it ourselves. And Wrecking Crew is pretty good, even if it is ancient. We're sure we'll hear about it if we are, but we don't think we're being unreasonable by saying that regardless of the quality, Nintendo should be able to offer more every week. The games are already made.
- Wrecking Crew (Famicom, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points)
- Dungeon Explorer II (PC Engine CD-ROM, 1-5 players, 800 Wii Points)

I still have Dungeon Explorer II for my Turbo Duo. It still works, but I'd love to have it on VC. My Duo's days are surely numbered. Hope this comes to the US VC.

I'm more disappointed that Nintendo has not released a lot more interesting games for the US virtual console. I'm mainly discussing the fact that hundreds of excellent N64 games have been cast aside for third system trash that originally never saw the light to begin with.
Where is Quest 64? Where are the underrated launch titles of the N64's day like Pilot Wings? Really take a look at the wikipedia 64 game list and think about all the games that should be on the virtual console, but have not even been discussed. Seriously Nintendo, release Body harvest or give me nothing, since that is what it appears that you're currently doing.

Perhaps Nintendo is deliberately slowing the release of VC games for two reasons. One, so that releasing 4-5 a week seems generous, and also because there have been so many games lately that are interesting. While some people will purchase plenty of games per month, most people can only afford a full priced game when it really interests them. I know I'm tapped for the moment. I recently bought 3 full games, and that's gonna keep me for a while even though there are more still out that I want. Just a thought.

You're being unreasonable.
People are more likely to buy a game released if less games are released with it.

I think that would be true if they assumed people would want to purchase all the games listed. People's desire for VC games is going to be scattershot. I'm not sure about others, but since Wii points are purchased in bulk, I tend to buy VC games by the cluster. Even if they released five "quality" games one week, I'd be willing to bet that most people would only want two of them.

Wrecking Crew shocked me. I bought it strictly because of the Eggplant Man trophy in Melee, and i'm not a fan of puzzle games usually, but i can't put it down. Just last night i finished NMH for the night and went to play five minutes or so of Wrecking Crew
Which became 30 minutes...

I think Nintendo are looking at the VC very long-term wise. I'm sure they're looking at keeping VC strong through all their next-gen consoles. If they released 10 games per week now, then by the time the next-gen comes out, there won't be much left to look forward to/build up hype for.
That and, if they released so many games, some people would pick their absolute favourites and not necessarily ones that just add that little bit of nostalgia (for instance, I bought SFII and SFII Turbo - if they'd released them closer together, I'd have just bought Turbo).
At the very least, Nintendo is taking a VERY strategical approach to VC releases.
