We've known since late 2006 that Nintendo intended to add classic titles from the Commodore 64's library to its Virtual Console service, but Nintendo of Europe has been hesitant to reveal any concrete details until now.
According to NoE, the C64 games are only planned for release in Europe so far, and they will be available to purchase for 500 Wii Points (€5, approximately $7.35) later this year. 500 Wii Points?! That's as much as an NES release on the Wii Shop Channel!
Nintendo has already confirmed Uridium and International Karate as potential VC titles, both of which you can find video for after the post break. The 25-year-old console has a line-up of over 4,000 games to draw from, so it's guaranteed that we'll see regular C64 releases for years. Maybe this means that Nintendo will start putting out three to four Virtual Console games a week again.

Like hell am I paying 500 points for that crap. It's hard enough to sell me on NES games for 500 points.

Ah great, more crap.
I'm sure there are many people who love the Commodore 64, but this looks a little too "retro" for me. Maybe I'm not old enough to appreciate this, but I have no desire to spend 500 points on any game from this console.
Hell, I love Sega but there is no way I'm downloading any Master System games, let alone this.
There is too much mediocrity on the Virtual Console: not enough Kirby.

What? No "Pogo Joe"? No "Minor 2049er"???
500 Wii points is way too much for C64 games. Maybe if they were ina pack of three games for 500 points. How much will they charge for Atari 2600 games eventually?
I don't mind seeing stuff like this on the VC... even if I'm not interested, I'm sure someone is. But there are so many better options and titles that should be released. Not to mention Arcade ports. I want to play Popeye again!

I agree with all the previous posts so far. The price of the games on the virtual console are just too much for games that are this old. Nintendo should be pricing these titles so much lower that they're more like advertising for the Wii console. "Look how great our console is. You can even download great, classic games for practically nothing." Paying 5 bucks for a game from the Commodore 64 feels like a slap in the face.

A lot of the Electronic Arts games (and graphics) are head and shoulders above Nintendo graphics.
That having been said, it's not like you can't download an emulator and play the rom for free if downloaded online.

Here's a quote for the photo above:
"Hello? Is it Wii you're looking for?"
(It's better if you sing it.)

Man, I would LOVE to see the C64 library come to the Wii. It was my first computer and I still have fond memories of playing it for hours after school.
Karate Champ, M.U.L.E., Darkhorn, some great stuff there. I do agree that $5 may be a bit much. Maybe $2.50. Obviously I wouldn't download all of them but there's definitely some gems there that I would love to have.

Sorry Nintendo I'm not paying 5.00$ for a C64 game, a dollar at the most. How long has it been since the last C64 rolled of the line anyway? This is crap they should put up for free on one of there upcoming channels.

If they'd just add Flash 9 support to Opera (get on it, dammit!) you could run FC64, a Flash-based Commodore emulator. Or, uh, just do that on your PC =-)

Which won't happen until Abobe allows licensing of Flash 9 for anything outside of the PC arena. It's not Opera's, or Nintendo's fault.

I ownded a commodore 64 when I was young, I had butt loads of games...and not by a long shot are they worth 500 wii points. I already think what they are asking for VC games, which they have already made money off of years ago is outrageous, and reading this just angers me even more.

I doubt I'd play these for free, but I certainly wouldn't pay more than a dollar. I hope someone was working on getting these to the VC on their own time and not being paid for the effort, effort that could've been used getting better VC games released.

I'd be more than willing to pay $10 for a version of Hounded (brilliant greyhound racing game) and maybe a few bucks for the Summer/Winter/Cali games but I can't imagine too many other games that I want to play now.
If they bring me some Amiga games though I might be interested.

Actually according to the post it's $7.35 and 5 euros.
So lets see a C64 game(s) or a WW game? That's such a hard choice.....

I wouldn't pay 7 bucks for these old ass games. I still have my C64 sitting in my closet with about 100 games. I tried to break it out a few months ago but the disk drive doesn't work. Do these things go for good money on EBAY??
