We'd think this commercial for Super Smash Bros. Brawl was a fan-created fake if we hadn't, uh, been forced to watch it before our chosen video on Gamevideos. News appears everywhere, even in the way of other news! It's about as basic as a commercial can get: it shows some characters doing a few moves and poses, then cuts to the boxart and text reading "March 9, 2008." It doesn't really need much else.
The question, of course, is "does Brawl really need any advertising?" This isn't a Metroid Prime 3 situation, in which a good game needs a bit of a push to get into as many hands as possible. This is Super Smash Bros. It's basically the only game that was a genuinely huge hit on the GameCube. There's no concern that it'll undersell.

No "Wii would like to play"?
No family of contented players on a couch?
Are you sure this is an American 1st-party Wii ad?

Putting that in a Brawl advert of all things would DETER people from buying the game, that's why.

I love the Wii would like to play ads! That's such a smart campaign for what the Wii wants to be.

In related news, you can trade 2 Wii games in (from a selected list) at Gamestop/EB Games to get Brawl for $9.99+tax. Or you could trade two games in and get the $10 extra credit that's going on now until March 16.
Personally, I'm trading in NMH and RE4, both games I'll probably re-buy later on for cheap, to get Brawl for a whopping $4 out-of-pocket.

Eric's got a post going up later, but check this out, because I did some math:
EB ALSO has a deal where trading two games gets you an extra $10. If the trade-in value of your games is more than $20 each, you get $50.
Also, eBay continues to exist.

While we're posting deals, I think Circuit City will still give you a 10 dollar gift card if you preorder online, and free shipping. My card is burning a hole in my wallet even now.

This is just one of the Japanese commercials with all of the text and Japanese voiceover taken out. I'll take my two creepy Japanese man breaking into someones house and forcing them to play it and have looks of over-the-top pleasure, thankyouverymuch.

^ I'm pretty sure that's the actual commercial. The other one seems way to fake.

I'm pretty sure that the one I posted came from the official Wii YouTube account, and I'm quite sure it was played as an ad before a video I watched.
Could it be...? TWO commercials?

All we need is some Brawl Dew, so we can play the game, just like with Halo 3. Then the advertising will be complete.
But when you think about it, wouldn't it be sweet to have some random Japanese dudes driving around in a Wiimobile, giving people free Wiis? I mean, I wouldn't let them into my house. I'd grab the Wii and bolt the door, but whatever.

Well this only helps. I like the ad, simple to the point and you never know a casual might say "hey that looks like a blast i love mario party i'll buy that " and pick up some sales. It also confirms the game is coming which people are feeling like it'll never come out in America.

What I've never seemed to understand is why it always has to be Mario, Link, Kirby and Pikachu. I understand Mario and Link. Kirby is definitely beacause of HAL. ¿But Pikachu? I'm pretty sure Donkey Kong or Samus would be less annoying in an ad and far more people play with either one, without falling into the obscurity of other non-mainstream characters such as Captain Falcon.
Everytime I hear Pikachu's "voice" I want to kill someone.

Because Pokemon games are more popular than DK or Metroid games. By far.
