The latest issue of Famitsu reveals that Capcom's Gamecube-exclusive Resident Evil prequel, Resident Evil Zero, is being prepared for a Wii release this summer. The port (and that's exactly what this looks like; sorry to disappoint the optimists holding out for a Resident Evil 4-engine remake) will, according to NeoGAFfer king zell's translation, be playable with just the Wii Remote. This rumor seems entirely plausible to us. Porting Resident Evil games to multiple systems: Capcom's generally in favor. They're not crazy, either: Capcom made some pretty good money from the last RE port on Wii!
Check after the break for the full scan -- just don't be too surprised if the screens look familiar.

It's great to see that Capcom views Wii as a viable Resident Evil platform.
Now if only we could get them to announce Resident Evil 5 for Wii....

... So they're porting a game that can be played on the wii, to the wii? At least with RE4 they improved it with the tight wiimote controls. If they ported this to the RE4 engine with the wiimote controls, I'd be in.
As is, it looks like Capcom just sees the Wii as a way to guarantee money while putting their blockbusters on the other consoles.

Yeah, I could totally see that.. Because, you know, they released so many blockbusters on the other platforms (oh, DMC4, whatever).
And Zack & Wiki was just a quick cash-in, and RE:UC, they shoulda never done that since it's a new idea and not RE4, right?

Besides Zack & Wiki, I don't think you're argument has much weight. And even Zack & Wiki was a low budget title (albeit, a very good one).
PS3/XBox 360 get Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 5 while wii gets a port of RE4 wii and a spin off to the series. Really, how can you use RE:UC as a defense when the true sequel with full production is going to the other consoles?

Bought this from the bargain bin for $18.99 for GC. I'm cool with using a GC controller, no need to revamp everything.

Capcom gets a lot of flack for their constant ports and sequels, and much of that flack is deserved.
However, they have done a superb job moving solid games onto the Wii so far... and usually at budget prices too! There is nothing wrong with making good games available on new systems - especially when they take the time to significantly improve those games (Okami, RE4) with solid Wii control schemes.
As someone who never owned a GameCube, if they do half the job on RE0 that they did for RE4 I'll be happy to see this game arrive.

Oh dear lord really? The game is about 5 years old! I love Resident Evil as much as the next dude but I remember the controls being next to unplayable back in the day and with very little wiimote goodness chances are it will just be as bad, especially if yo have to move in 3D space using the d-pad. Woe is me, when will this posting end? (except for Okami im weeing myself a little in anticipation)

The only zombie killing game I'm looking forward to is House of the dead 2+3 at least we might get 4 if we buy that.....
Capcom is basically using the Wii to make money to make better/newer games for another console. It's good to be loved.
Anyways I won't touch this or Okami. I'm a no last gen port person.

I will not buy this game for the Wii; I have it for the GC. I don't really want to play it again either, because I got tired of getten eaten by frogs while Rebecca just stood there and watched it happen. I told you you could shoot to your heart's content, so shoot those bastard frogs!

Why? Oh Why? Couldn't they just take time to just remake using the re 4 engine? i mean that would rock the house! It would add an effect that seems to be lost after the older titles since of the characters all walk like tanks! Capcom could better. I mean this would add hype to re 5 AND give the wii good credit too. It seems though the RE team is putting all their effort into Resident Evil 5. :-(
