In speaking with Eurogamer, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono commented that having a port of Street Fighter IV on the Wii is entirely possible. He wants everyone to know that graphics don't make the game, gameplay does. And, we're hoping that should this game come to the Wii, it doesn't incorporate waggle shortcuts for maneuvers.Ono explains "Street Fighter IV, as it stands now, would be well-suited for the higher-level platforms. But the game doesn't have to have these visuals in order to be fun, We could go, potentially, to the Wii. We could make it on Game Boy, for all we know right now." He goes on further to explain that as "long as the rules are the same, that can be independent of the visuals. So we're not going to be limited by any hardware specs; we're going to aim as wide as possible."
Take it as you will, but it's hardly a confirmation the game is coming to the Wii. However, that bit about aiming as widely as possible could very much mean a Wii port is in the works. It is the console with the largest install base right now, after all.

I'd rather play the game in true high-definition on either the PS3 or 360.

Why? It's not a visual stunner, and the controllers for those systems are absolute crap for 2D fighters.

The only person that would say that is somebody that hasn't experienced high-def for themselves. High-def is just normal now, everything else looks sub-par.

Completely not true. In fact, I perfer my 32" SDTV for gaming over my 27" LCD HDTV simply due to the fact that this high end SD-TV with a fantastic contrast ratio and great range of color cost LESS than the 27" LCD TV (which I purchased on Black Friday mind you), which has a higher resolution, sure, but pretty lame blacks and whites.
You act as though standard definition is 'obsolete' and that HD is the 'norm' even though SD is still the dominant TV type in households and thats likely not going to change for a good few years, even after the digital switch in 2009.

Street Fighter is not a weird niche game with a cutesy monkey and a stupid name, its a well known established franchise. It would do just fine on Wii, much like Resident Evil and Guitar Hero did.
Also the resolution and shaders would have to be toned down a bit, but the game could still look great thanks to its stylized cartoon-ish art direction.

Not to give you guys a false idea but the graphics, to me, look like the game was developped on Wii all along. It's not exactly Uber-Hi-Res or laden with textures and shaders. It looks good, Nintendo good. Not Cell-CPU good, not Halo good, just good. From what I've seen so far and from what I know about the history of Capcom and Street Fighter imho it would be ignorant NOT to assume there's going to be a Striit Fighter :p

I so hope it does. Street Fighter is one of my all-time favourite franchises. I would be pretty upset if there's no Wii version.

If you want to be a high-definition snob, you should be playing PC games.
Playing Street Fighter for its graphics is really silly. Graphics are a convenience, esp for a fighter. You aren't going to be talking about the graphics two months after a game is out, anda fighter game is meant to be played for based on it mechanics for YEARS. A lot of people still play Super Turbo.
Playstation 3 will be the "preferred" version, because most people's sticks have PSX ports, and it's a $15 solution (Pelican adaptor) to use those on Playstation 3.
That doesn't mean a Wii ver shouldn't be made. It's nice hearing a company say that they're willing to port, honestly. That how ALL gaming used to be, and it was no big deal (arcade --> home).
A Wii ver would still be successful, since they're obviously targeting more casual gamers and people who loved SFII.

From what i've seen, it wouldn't have to be toned down that much. They can make it more graphically intensive because its a fighting game, so only small areas need to be loaded simultaneously, and what i've seen doesn't look like it would be too far out of what Wii could do. The character models will take more of a hit, but if they go with the more stylized look like they are anyway, it won't make much of a difference
Plus, like Co said, we have the Classic Controller.

I use my ISF calibrated Sony KD-34XBR960 Direct-View CRT HDTV for my gaming needs. So that talk about "lame blacks and whites" was just thrown out the window. ;)
Yes, SD *is* obsolete. HD may not be the norm, but that doesn't mean SD is just as good. Nowhere near it.
Anyways, HD is available here now. Not later, not in the future, but NOW. With that in mind give me Street Fighter IV in high-definition. And why not? We have the means.

In fact, i think they could do SF4 on wii in 720p. Just like Soul caliber II on the xbox, just prerender the backgrounds, and it could be done. Fighting games aren't usually technically needy.

I've seen HD...I've played games on HD....I own a TV...Can't afford HD...not a big enough leap. If something must be watched in HD, I have a PC.
I don't think It'd need scaled back to much....and it'd look just as good...well nearly as good....I loved SF back in the SNES days...not played it since I would pick this up but only for Wii.
