I showed up at my local GameStop for the tournament, only to find out it had begun and ended hours earlier. Their website clearly says that play was supposed to start at the midnight launch, but they started at 9pm. I know that I might've "taken things too literally" and should've contacted the store, but if a website says to show up before midnight, that's when I show up. I didn't get to compete at all.
On the bright side, one of the female employees there was dressed as Link. (I'd hit it.) I told her to get an ocarina @ songbirdocarina.com to complete the outfit. But seeing a cute girl wasn't really worth the trip.
So essentially, I made a trip in the snow for nothing. (I preordered at Circuit City.) Poo on GameStop.

I blame your use of character, Kirby is pure trash, even in brawl lols.

Lay off Kirby. In the original Super Smash Bros. I used to completely wreck people with Kirby...shame what they did to him for Melee, though, and I'm sure Brawl isn't much different.

crazy that they let you use gamecube controllers, and different stages etc. nintendo was pretty strict about wii remote/nunchuk and battlefield only when they hammered out the rules and regulations.
everyone at my store dressed up haha. it was a blast.

Well, I'm glad at least some of you had a good time. Heres how it went for me:
I get there at around 11:15, because Nintendo said that registration for fights should begin at around 11:30 so everyone can start playing at midnight. I was expecting some people around my age, maybe a few kids. Instead, I get there and NOBODY is under 25, and I get the distinct impression that half of them want to throw me in their van and offer me some candy. I then find out that they began playing at around 10:00, and they are currently in the middle of finals. Sweet, thanks guys. They also broke their street date. Go figure.
The store I actually pre-ordered my copy at begins its tournament in a half an hour, and I doubt it'll be much different. I hate my city.

its weird that they let you guys use gc controls and pick your characters. there were really strict here in sanger, ca. we all started playing around 11. one minute rounds, using the wii remotes and random characters for EVERY match. only the 2 people that were in the match were allowed in the store, while the rest of us were waiting our turn outside almost breaking the doors down. *sigh* good times....

I stopped at my gamestop here in Hanford California and I ranked 3rd place. Too bad there weren't any prizes. But it was really awesome.

You gotta love the York Galleria; you can literally feel the ground shake if you jump up and down on the second floor. I have fond memories of lobbing pennies over the rail at unsuspecting shoppers...
