Australians only have fifty-eight days (approximately five hamburgers, two milkshakes, eight orders of fries, and seven chocolate bars) before getting glute guilted into buying Wii Fit. Nintendo announced today that the fitness title, which is meant to imbue healthy lifestyles, will be coming to Australia on May 8th. That's just in time for you Aussies to give it to your mums for Mother's Day, but then again, a present like that has the potential to make any woman cry. You'd also have to really love your mom to spend $149.95 AUD ($139 USD) on her, assuming that she already owns a Wii. Even the thought of spending that on yourself is daunting for a nongame, although the pricing isn't completely unexpected -- after all, the UK and European prices equate to about the same.
Does that make it okay, though? We suspect the answer to that is a resounding "no."

And 20 servings of vegemite...
I was actually considering getting me some balance board loving back when we thought it would be $69.99 here. Now it seems like we're in for $99.99, and the rest of the world is *really* paying out of the caboose.
I figure that Nintendo is looking at production issues AGAIN. Double price might bring demand down to levels they can handle. But at some point they really should figure out how gage demand and then produce enough hardware to meet it.

A probable US 99.99 is indeed under 100.
I guess nintendo's never been one to mince words. When Reggie said "under 100" he meant it, just like the Wii's "under 250" price point.

Wow...if I where an Aussie...I'd be giving it a massive: NO!
I really hope this product flops...so they lower the price to what it should be and then I hope it sells well and Nintendo learns their lesson. Everybody wins :)

I think they'll sell as many as they can manufacture, and down the line the price will still come down. I think the price point is artificially high so they can spread demand a little and keep up on the production side.

$99.99 is pushing it. I'd be much more likely to pick it up at 79.99 or less. For something that's (supposedly) going to be out this summer when the weather's already nice, $100 seems like a waste to me.

I'm not going to buy wii fit at any price. The phrase is "Fat and Happy" not "fit and happy." I already get depressed enough without playing a game to make me skinny (It'd take a LOOOOONNNG time).
