Right now, the North American Virtual Console has only one Square Enix game (though it's quality): Actraiser, and that was from the Enix side. According to a new listing on the ESRB's page, a Square game will finally be available for download -- an alliteratively-named classic that takes place in a swords-and-sorcery fantasy setting and allows players to play as a magic user, a warrior, and even a thief, all to the strains of composer Nobuo Uematsu's soundtrack. That's right, it's King's Knight.
Also newly listed: Final Soldier! Yeah, it's another TG16 shooter, but you don't have to buy it. We've been waiting for this one.

It figures. No way any Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest will be on VC when they can just sell the thing at full price on the DS and be on the japanese top 10
But VC Final Fantasy V would be great though...

Yeah, Square Enix seems determined to milk their big franchises for all that they can by publishing remake after remake after remake. I'm still hoping they decide to release more of their less popular games on the VC, though - namely Illusion of Gaia and Ogre Battle. I loved those back in the day.

Everyone complaining that this isn't (insert favorite Square title here):
You're not looking at what this means. Square is finally releasing a VC title. It's only a matter of time before more follow. Now any Squre title (SMRPG?) is much closer to a reality.

Too true. I can only hope it means that a VC release of Chrono Trigger is coming. ;)

Yes!!!! This is the FIRST square game I played. I loved it in its day. It's like 1942 mixed with RPG elements. I'll download it the day it releases and die over and over again, reliving cherished memories of my youth in combray.
