EA Sports' Wii cup overfloweth
With eight new games lined up by the company, EA Sports also has a new IP planned for the console. Electronic Arts wants their own slice of that delicious casual pie, as EA head honcho Peter Moore comments "we now have eight titles in development for the Wii, testament both to the global impact of that console currently in the global marketplace, as well as to our desire to attract more consumers to experience EA Sports games, no matter their experience playing games nor their prowess with a traditional controller."
So, are you excited? Still hate EA? What games do you think we're getting? What's your opinion regarding all of this?

I am looking forward to NCAA Football 09! I love the fact that on their website they feature the Wii as a big time player by not only saying that it will be on the Wii but by promoting it! I am so pumped because I love the college football games much more than Madden!

We shall see. If they are committed to Wii, maybe they won't advertise the next Madden game as if it were a 360 exclusive (and i'm not saying that because they used the 360 version in the commercials, it was the best performing version, its only natural, but 360 was the only system even mentioned in the ad)

Only sports games I care about are Mario Kart and Mario strikers Charged. Anything else, and you can just play it in real life. So w/e. Oh, and MORE casual games? Man, do we need THOSE on the Wii! Not like 3rd parties aren't shoveling enough of those onto the Wii! Honestly EA, the only game I've liked of yours recently was MoH:H2, and that's cuz it has 32 player online. Make some deep and interesting games.....Please?

Personally I think this is good for the Wii. Say what you will about EA, but their support will only increase Wii sales, and bring more 3rd party support to the system, which is always good.

I hope I don't sound like a dick, but how will this increase sales if the Wii is still selling out everywhere? What we need is a (semi)good developer like EA making good hardcore games. We don't need anymore shovelware/casual games, we need epic games. Not saying that they couldn't make a good casual game, I'm looking at the Wii lineup and all I see is Okami(port) and Baroque(agian port I think, and the concept sounds interesting.) But now I'm just ranting. Oh well, we'll see.
It's weird seeing Peter Moore, who used to be a big player at Microsoft, holding a Nintendo shirt. Creeps me out, but now he is in a position to support everyone.

Do you hate Warner Brother movies or Virgin Record's cds or Time/Life magazines or Ballantine books. obviously we dont. Intelligent people are able to take it all on a case by case basis or more specifically a game by game basis. Some EA Games are great, some are good and some suck. And of course I'm waiting for C64's Adventure Construction Set to get to the Virtual Console.

So, is this EA Sports in particular who has all these games lined up, or EA in general? Personally, I'm hoping (fairly) newly acquired EA subsidiary BioWare gets on the Wii bandwagon. Preferably with a new Baldur's Gate RPG.

Make it good, by the way.

I'd categorize many EA titles as shovelware with an extra coat of paint and a heftier price tag. EA Games are like Hollywood movies: Most of it is tripe, but the masses eat it up.
